you should read ‘Trainspotting’, its written in scottish dialect.
i read half the book and my thoughts suddenly turned from my accent, straight into scottish! Was brilliant :D
I think maybe W.W. Jacobs, author of Light Freights and other short story collections, might be Scottish. (Great book & funny, by the way.) He writes in some sort of “dialect.”
I know I’m supposed to be impartial but I love you - Mas
Anyone who takes the trouble to research their point in an argument and has the guts to come back and say they found a different side to it. Apart from that the picture is beautiful - makes me homesick
Got to say Florie - nope - cant quite say nope completely as the name is nagging me - has been since I saw it earlier in this post - maybe back in the day - Mas
I’ve only read Light Freights, and it’s hilarious (in a subtle way). Seafaring tales. :)
I shall investigate - I love a good read Florie

That means a lot, Mas, especially since you are the one who first corrected me.

No, sadly (or unsadly, depending on which side of Hadrian’s Wall you prefer) I hail from mostly British and German decents. I have Canadian cousins in the Clan Campbell, tho. They git kilts. Lucky bastards.
As a scottish girl from glasgow i find it bloody grrrrrrreat that people like the scottish so much…makes me proud to be scottish.
We are bloody mental right enough:P

Will someone PLEASE teach me Scottish? I once argued, perhaps incorrectly, that the people of Scotland spake a standard English dialect, rather than their own bonnie and native tongue. Upon reading the “European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages”, I stand corrected. It states:
Notwithstanding the UK government’s and the [Scottish Government]’s obligations under part II of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, the [Scottish Government] recognises and respects Scots (in all its forms) as a distinct language, and does not consider the use of Scots to be an indication of poor competence in English.
So, in honour of all the native Scots who’ve made Help.com their virtual home, I’d like to take the this opportuniy to celebrate their culture wit you an yours. Now before you whip out the Old American Card, let me say that I have BEEN to Scotland, eaten Haggis, seen cabers tossed, ascended all 246 steps to the William Wallace Monument, walked the Royal Mile, seen - with my own eyes - the Stone of Destiny, and, and gotten pissed in more than just a pub or two. And I also know a lot about the movie “Trainspotting”, but of course, that is hardly a substitute.
So wee at, I’d like to invite all of our Scottish, English, and Northern Irish guests share a bit ‘o their culture wee us. And perhaps a little Scots too.
So wee oot further adieu, Here’s tae ye!
