are there any other insomniacs out there?

it’s just past 5am here in california… for the past 2 months i haven’t slept before 5 or 6am. i think my job has thrown off my sleep cycle (i work until midnight, sometimes 2am). i really need to get that in check soon, because i can’t be doing this with 8am classes during the semester. i have rx sleep aids, but i don’t really like using them.

anyway… just looking to chat haha.

Make yourself a sleep routine. Don’t stimulate your brain by going on the computer. Make yourself a non caffine drink such as camomile tea, put on some gentle music and read a book. For no longer than 1 hour. Then turn off the light. If your brain keeps jumping ideas at you have a notebook and pencil besides you, to quickly make a note. Once it’s on paper your brain will let it go for the night. Sleep tight.

i rarely drink caffeine… and if i do, it’s usually just in the morning. i’ve tried camomile tea, warm milk even. i’ve done the book thing, but i get lost in the story haha.

i guess it’s just that i feel like i always have to be doing something. that and the fact that i let my body get used to it. thanks though, i appreciate the suggestions!

in college. i work on campus in the dorms… resident services. it’s a lot like a hotel concierge.

my hours vary, but usually i work night shifts. depending on which building i’m in, i’m off at either midnight or 2am

How about Hot chocolate, warm bath and a moment with yourself. That should do the trick.

i’m actually willing to keep this job because it’s pretty laid back. i don’t mind the hours, and i think after the semester starts, my hours are going to be cut back a little. so maybe i’ll get more sleep.

and i’m a psychology major.

if you ask me about being awake all day (is much better ! :D )
I mean , at first times, i felt there’s sth wrong with me - staying awake untill late hours, then it turned out to be -it was only me who was still awake ! -and then i began moving around at home alone - keep reading sth awake still - thinking no need to sleep ! and the more i was awake the more i could think ,
You wake up- and you say - ( when you begin thinking about weird things any more )
Why all these people are sleeping now - why arent some of them awake ?? why they have to sleep !

And , i like -being awake — as long as i am not aggressive :)

( what do you think about this way of thinking - As you are a psychology major ?

am i wrong ? i mean - we are taught to sleep early ( the healthy life has gone since everywhere is full of mobile phones’ radioactive rays, and we always inhale the poisonous gases, we are already not healthy anymore if living in a city esp.
So i dont think we should sleep :D )

( i mean - sleeping is said to be very healthy for us ( whether we are young or not , bec. it regulates many things in our body… ) i dont care it any more …

sorry unluckyone, i couldn’t tell you haha. i’m in the process of switching my major to psych so i haven’t actually taken a psych class… yet. sorry about the confusion.

but i mean, it seems as if we’re both doing it out of habit. or it’s just that we’ve made it a routine so our body is used to it.

ha aha aah :D yeah-i guess so ! :D

Accept that i am luckier - i have no job (i dont have to wake up early and i am just doing what i want –but you have to be working also ! :D

(kidding… it’s just jokes from someone who has nthing to do but making jokes !:@ :D )

hope we get better !

During the day, I feel like I have to be mature and get all my responsibilities out of the way. But when 9pm rolls by…I plomp down in front of my computer and have fun, in whatever way interests me the most. By the time I’m done, it’s somewhere around 4am. So I guess I’m not an insomniac so much as I just don’t want to sleep. But it’s nonetheless detrimental to my health and thought-process in the long run, so I guess we’ve got something in common? ;b
