How do I know what wage my employer should be paying me?

I’m 21 years old, working in Australia as a shop assistant in a retail store. I only turned 21 this year, and I was working at this store before I turned 21. I was told that my pay rate should have increased since I turned 21, but it hasn’t. Where do I look to find out what I should be getting paid, to make sure I’m being paid correctly? I don’t want to raise the issue with my employer until I’m sure of the facts. So any help would be appreciated :)

Perhaps your company does this on a certain day or a certain month. Like here in the states *though not exactly what you’re speaking of* my health insurance goes up 4 months after I turned 27… It’s all about renewal with them. Same with my vehicle insurance. Do you have a hand book from your company? It’s possible it may be in there. Perhaps they might give you that extra money when you come up for a review of some type. You could go to the HR person in your office and speak with them, too. Good luck!
