My puppy
Once there was a little puppy. Her name was Tiny. Her owner Listy, who was eight years old had named her this because she was such a small dog.
Today was the forth of July. Everyone was very exited, but Tiny didn’t know why. But she had fun running behind Listy as she ran around the house.
When it was starting to get dark outside, Listy put Tiny out to go to the bathroom. Tiny ran out into the yard, but as soon as she got to the middle of the yard, she heard three loud bangs right above her. Then there were bright flashes of color.
This terrified Tiny and she ran out of the yard, across the street and through another yard. Tiny heard Listy call out for her but she was too scared to go back there.
Tiny ran and ran as she heard more loud booms. After awhile Tiny was tired and couldn’t run anymore.
She walked until she reached an alley. Then she turned and walked down the alley looking for a place to hide.
After a minute she saw a small hole leading under a building. Tiny crawled into it and curled into a ball afraid of what was out there.
Tiny tried to sleep, but she was too scared and there was far too much noise.
After a few hours that seemed like forever the noise slowed down and then stopped. Tiny still didn’t crawl out of her hiding place because she was afraid that it would start again.
After awhile longer Tiny fell asleep. When she woke up again it was light out. She still didn’t hear anything so she slowly crawled out of her hiding place. She looked around, but she didn’t know where she was. She cautiously walked to the end of the alley. Everything out on the street still looked unfamiliar. She had no idea which way to go.
Three Days Later…
Tiny crawled out from under the dumpster. She had had to sleep under it the night before. Ever since she had left her hiding place she had been walking everywhere looking for her home. Tiny was now very hungry, and she was very dirty and she missed Listy very much. She had managed to get some food, but not very much, she had been drinking from puddles.
Tiny walked down the street close to the buildings. Every now and then she would break into a run trying to find a place that looked familiar to her.
Tiny turned down the sidewalk that lined a busy road. It looked slightly familiar, but not a street that she had seen often. But the sight of something slightly familiar got her hopes up, maybe she was almost home. Tiny was trying to think of when she had seen this street.
After a minute she remembered. She had seen it a few times when Listy and Listy’s mother had taken her with them when they had gone to the store.
Tiny started to kind of run. She ran around a group of people and her heart leapt. She saw Listy and Emma, Listy’s mom walked out of a store, three stores down. Tiny broke into a run trying to get there fast. Then she started barking. Listy had looked sad when she first looked up, but when she saw Tiny her face brightened and she started running to meet Tiny. When Tiny got to her, Listy picked her up and hugged her.
Listy and Emma took Tiny home and gave her a bath. Then they feed her and gave her some fresh water. Tiny was very grateful for this.
She was very happy that she was home again. And she would never leave again, no matter how scared she was.
