I have seen Pro Activ work on several people. Personally I use oxy 10 cream day & night…Oxy cleansing pads when I get home. Fantastic.

Go and see a doctor who specializes in skin…he’ll give you something that works, that’s your best bet…

i have tried proactiv and it didnt work at all for me or any of my family, do you use the pads offten or just 2x every 24 hrs?

the hydrogen peroxide, left a lot of scars and it did the job for a little while, but it came back right away and really bad.

i dont have time for the dermatologist, but i think i might have to scheduel something, if i dont find a remedy i can do on my own.

i have severe acne, and ive tried many things i really need to know EVERYTHING that works for others so that i can try it out

I would also suggest talking with a dermatologist… everyones skin reacts differently to different products. Your dermatologist will be able to treat your skin with a proper cream or medication.

Another product a nurse practitioner once told me about was “Hibiclens.” It is a surgeon’s wash that is gentle enough to use on one’s skin and has sometimes even used to treat acne. Read the directions carefully and try washing a small area of your skin with Hibiclens twice a day. It will stay on your skin for up to 6 hours. You can find Hibiclens at your local pharmacy or Walgreens. Hibiclens has even worked when I treat small spots on my skin. Some people even put a capful in their laundry.

I use Oxy pads 1ce every night before bed..Wash with their wash in the AM & use the cream on face thru day….Use Vitam E oil as moisturizer to keep skin smooth & not DRY due to the alcohol in the OXY product

hibiclens is seriously strong stuff. us wrestlers use it to protect/cure ringworm. wash your face with regular water too, then dry with a towel to get all the oil off your face, then use the oxy pads or hibiclens or cream or hydrogen peroxide or whatever…

One thing that has worked for me in the past, take Zinc vitamin supplements daily… about 50-100mg every day. Months ago I stopped using anything specifically marketed as “anti-acne” something I stopped using was “face-wash” all together and “oil-free” anything.. I don’t use soap on my face at all anymore. I’ll use a wash cloth with warm water and wash my face with that once or twice a day… to remove makeup I use a face cloth that already has the cleanser but you don’t have to add water… such as the Pond’s wipes, but I buy the cheap knock-off brand. If you have pretty bad acne, they also sell Tea Tree oil wipes at Trader Joe’s (but don’t use those near your eyes). People always complement me on how great my skin looks.

I really would reccomend seeing a dermatologist. I had REALLY bad acne a few years ago, then I went to see a dermatologist and he gave me something called tetracycline. It is amazing. I also use a face wash called Oxy, I know you didnt want to hear about store bought stuff but this stuff really cleared up what the meds didnt take care of. It took about a week for each to see a difference in both products. I have been on both of them for over 2 years now and I still and seeing an improvement in my skin. Plus using them will help prevent nasty acne scars.

Anon poster I highly suggest trying the Zinc before going on medication. It really works, and is probably a LOT less expensive..

Heres a tip: Dont wash your face with ANY acne treatment more than 3 times a day. You might think you are helping getting rid of the acne, but really you are just making it worse. If you wash your face too much, it dries your skin out…and then your skin produces more oil to help moisturize it….and more oil=more clogged pores= more unwanted acne!!

Definitely use the Vitamin E oil ($1 stores have it)…couple drops on cleansed skin in the morning to keep moisturized throughout day..Just a fine balance.

Zinc can be very effective! I have also taken zinc tablets, ground them up and make them into a paste which I put on open cuts or sores. This seems to help the healing process on its way!

Exfoliation is also something that helps cuts acne down. Often bacteria mix with dead skin cells, dirt and natural oils to create the problem. Oil of Olay’s Age Defying formula wash is even being used by teens. I would even suggest using this gradually or little by little and then adding Oil of Olay’s Hydrating cream to replenish and balance your skin’s condition.

The best thing and only thing that has ever worked for me for acne (blackheads) Whenever you wash your face use Ivory soap. Vitamin E cream is a great moisturizer. Neutrogenia face wipes help when you are away from home for long periods of time.

Toothpaste, lime juice, tomato slices, home made packs can be used for treating acne. You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for pimples at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html
