Moose on the Loose!
It was 38 degrees a couple of mornings ago, for several days in a row. It is feeling like fall here. I can tell cause I see the grasshoppers have gone from green to gold and now they are flying red. My stone-crop plants are all blooming and they don’t usually until next month. The bulls are coming down to our meadow. We really don’t see them until next month or so. They are early. They are still in velvet. So far they are standing around but soon will be pushing each other around. I promised I would send photos when they stopped by. One of my sisters was visiting and we had coffee and watched this young bull. I guess he moseyed on up to the neighbors and destroyed 4 trees rubbing his velvet off! I fenced mine off, and as you can see he has plenty of others. As soon as the sparring begins I will try and send you guys video. Hope you like it. Isn’t he beautiful?

They are just massive. This one is probably 3 or 4 years old.
When the bigger ones are pushing eachother around you can see every muscle, they are really something.
They are all over here Stone wolf and we have to be careful in the fall.
They go into the rut and get crazy and irritable.

Sometimes we find them in the pool!
as long as they can read the sign that states.. “notice there is no p in the ool”.. lmfao..
They are very beautiful animals. I thank you for the invite shie.
I’ll video the sparring and it will blow you away how strong they are. Oh and handsome! Plus the clicking of the racks is cool to hear.
I know, he didn’t like me creeping around and kept repositioning himself. The one shot he turns and looks at me. I was a little nervous and ready to run.
Holy crap that’s a giant moose. That thing is so big, I would have bolted if it had so much turned it’s head in my general direction.

Perhaps if you had given the moose a treat? Like Santa hats for it’s antlers…or something they like to eat…to moose like carrots?
Then maybe you would have gotten that infamous sexy moose pose!
Thanks Red Sky, can I throw the carrot at him? I do pitch a lot of food off the deck. I see deer enjoying it in the field.
Well I fear if you throw it at him he might get the wrong impression, like you don’t want to be close to him and thus will not pose for you and you’ll be given the butt end for all eternity.
Pull a horse whisperer or something and just wait in the field everyday until he turns around to face you snap the picture, leave the carrot as a token of appreciation and run back home…
That’s the scene I have running through my head right now!

uuummm at him???? hehehehehe only if you want to be trampled… lmfao…
Thats nice, I like it, and your right, I wouldn’t threaten it in any way. They have been coming here a long time and I welcome them.
have you thought about leaving them some carrots.. i mean, like when they arent there.. or about just ready to come out of the woods, throw some out there for them to find? or would that cause them to be like bears and tear up your land and such.
No, I could bait them with goodies and set up for a shot. Hopefully they would find it and not the deer or everything else. I could try it. Set some alfalfa and other good moose snacks out. Good idea.
My trees and gardens are protected, They can have all the meadow and scrub oaks they want.
Thanks Shie,
Nice of you. They were so cute playing like little children.
lq2m = laugh quietly to myself..
