Why does it seem like the harder I try, the more I get screwed over?

I feel like for some reason, karma hates me. I do nice things, and yet bad things happen. Am I ever gonna catch a break? This is the story of my life. -Hopeless in a small town

the thing about karma is that it eventually comes back, when you really need it. So wait and good things will return to you, all in due time.

I find that selfless deeds tend to pay off when you least expect (and often need them most). I’ve had things come back to me years later when I’d forgotten all about them.

Just keep a smile on your face and do your best. Remeber, to be truly selfless is to truly expect nothing in return, even from the universe.

Selfless deeds are not altruistic if your goal is to reciprocate good karma in return.

It sounds to me that you are anticipating good being done unto you just because you have been a decent person. You’re setting the standard high and because of it, you find yourself disappointed by the lack of needs met.

Try not expecting anything in return. Then when positive things DO come your way, it will be a pleasant surprise.

maybe take some satisfaction in having done the right thing for your part..

no way to control other people or external factors sometimes..

yeah. expect less.

find some enjoyment in having done something that was right - no matter what comes of it..
