I purchased a Sony Vaio computer from Besy Buy and am trying to get an answer to what should be a simple question.

I have now spent approximately three hours on the phone between (email removed), Microsoft and Geeksquad. I keep getting the runaround from all of the above. I must say my computer experience is becoming qhite unpleasant. The Microsoft Vista program comes with an AOL search tool. I do not pay for AOL, I pay for (email removed) Now (email removed) tells me to call Microsoft, Microsoft tells me to AOL and AOL tells me they can’t help me because I’m not a subscriber. It’s rediculous how these companies want to take your money, claim they will help if there is a problem and then give you the run around. I think it is pretty low considering how much they charge for this. I didn’t ask for AOL on my computer and now I’m out of luck when it comes to getting help. Thanks alot.

Are you looking for answers about problems with your AOL service?

I’d like to recommend that you ask AOL directly since they are best suited to help you.

For AOL support, you can visit the AOL support site or even call them at an AOL toll free number.

Just uninstall AOL and install which ever toolbar that you want. Yahoo, Google, Firefox it doesnt matter. Then all you have to do is open IE and at the search box click the arrow and select the find more providers and pick one and make that default search engine. Hope this helps :-)

“Uninstall” is a weird word. Shouldn’t it be “install” and “unstall” instead? That would make a lot more sense.

LOL Thats true.

superrichbaby — maybe it’s the Sony VAIO setup which makes AOL default everything and hides it from Control Panel>Remove Programs. You could maybe remove IE. But that’s not listed either. And the cutome IE offers no uninstall option. Nuke the directory, edit the registry, and reinstall?
