aaaaah, statistics. It’s fun, I agree. But the old saying is that the biggest liars are lawyers and statisticians. It’s true, you can skew so much as a statistician.

Actuary - LARGE amount of exams (7 years worth if my memory serves) - but there aren’t many decent ones, and getting a job shouldn’t be a problem

Stats - you need a natural gift with “Seeing” numbers, and manipulating (i know, bad word, but its true!) and presenting them… - jobs are harder to come by as i understand it..

what do YOU think?

As an actuarial student in New Brunswick, from Nova Scotia, jobs are really easy to come by,compared to stats ones.

If you want to know more try:

If I were you, I’d look into schools that cater to both, obviously since you’re from Halifax, look into Dalhousie and Saint Mary’s. Especially Dal. YOu can buy guideboos to help you pass the exams to be an actuary.

The main point is study hard and you can have your choice of either one, a final decision can wait until you are in your 3rd year of university, by then you will get an inkling, like I did.

actuary is tough when you are week and not interested in maths, but actuary is easy when you like maths.
