Hey hi
Be carefull with the blowing of compressed air on laptops/computers as you can knock a transitter or a chip off. I have seen it done before.

Yeah mate it does sound hardware rather then software. just a quick couple of questions!

Have you insatlled any new memory or changed or removed any memory from the laptop.
How old is the laptop? could the battery cells be dead?
Is your room dusty or is your room warm to start with?

If all of the above dont relate to you! then you should take it to a computer shop or return it where you got it and seek technical help from the shop.
Sorry there is only so much you can assist with across the net :o)

Hi Bugz, it overheats cos as soon as you switch the pc on the cpu heats up , granted not that fast (1 second), but if the thermistor on cpu is faulty too it will tell pc its too hot anyway and shut back down again. Compressed air can be purchased in aerosol can form, just blow it into any fans/vents you see to clear them , though most likely it will need thermal paste on the cpu/heatsink and will need pc to be opened up. Other ways for pc to overheat especially laptops is folk like to have them on the bed on on lap ? and funny enough its called a laptop but by putting it on your lap you most likely will block the air vent underneath or at side , again overheating the lappy.
