Jamaica Plain was for a long time one of the best kept secrets in the Greater Boston area. But over the last 10-15 years the neighborhoods just south of Boston proper, east of Brookline and north of West Roxbury have experienced a tremendous explosion of popularity and vibrancy. A diverse influx of ecclectic and creative residents have been drawn to this area as a result of an ever growing expansion of new small businesses, an array of unique and high quality dining and entertainment establishments and probably most of all for the charming dense tree-lined neighhborhoods that lie a bus ride away from downtown Boston and Cambridge.
Adjacent to the breathtaking Arnold Arboretum and peaceful Jamaica Pond, JP, as it is affectionately known by its “locals”, (many of whom are transplants, often young professionals, post-graduates, and many couples and new families), is known to be a hub of diversity, artistry and intellectualism. Centre Street winds its way from Jackson Square at Tremont Street all the way past the VFW parkway, and along the way you will find some of the best shops and restaurants of any city you’ll ever visit.
