I’m really frustrated.

I’m in my senior year of high school and I’ve been looking at colleges a lot. I’m 18 and I’ve been emancipated since I was 16 which means I don’t have any kind of college fund or parents who would help me. I do really well in school and I’m very successful. I work all of the time but the money I’m saving is to get a car, since I currently rely on public transportation. which is annoying. I want to go to a good college for international relations with minors in spanish and german, but all the top schools im looking at (american university, boston university, syracuse university) all top out at over 45,000 a year. I know there’s all kinds of financial aid I’ll apply for and scholarships and such… but I really think I won’t be able to go to a college of my choice simply because I don’t have enough money for tuition, but not based on my academic ability. It’s not fair. It seems like anyone who says you can do whatever you want if you work hard enough is lying. since I work my butt off just so i can get into a university i cant pay for. this is more of a venting post than anything.

Getting frustrated is the sign of an undisciplined, weak mind. Before going to college, you should consider joining the marines to put some stiffener in your spine.

I think even the most disciplined mind can become frustrated during periods of stress. Mccarthy, many people don’t get to go the school of their choice because of money problems. I am from a working class family and am barely making it by in a public university while my classmates hardly even go to class because their parents are picking up the tab. The system is broken and we are the unlucky ones who have to work 10X as hard to get less than 10% of what others get for just living.
