Are Wii disc games by any chance different in different countries?

You know like with dvds? I know this sounds like a dumb *** question, but I got a Wii in Australia and got a game over there, and it works fine, but I just got a game where I live and it won’t work. I exchanged it and the second one wouldn’t work either. It just occurred to me that the only game that worked so far is from Australia. Could it be that my Wii only excepts Australian and maybe American Wii discs? I know that is a really stupid reason, but I am clutching at straws to find out why!

I think they are region exclusive.

WHAT??????????? Oh my GOD. If that is true, that means I can NEVER buy games for it unless I actually buy them online from AUSTRALIA. PLEASE no. That would be SUCH a waste of money.

Oh my god. It is. :o( I wasted so much money buying it over in Australia on holidays because it was almost 100 euro cheaper. I come back to find it had dropped that much in price anyway so there was no point. And now I find out that no games I buy will work in it???? :o( :o( :o( :o( :o( :o( :o(
Plus a friend of mine did the same because I convinced her it would work out better than buying it back home. She is going to hate me. :o(

what….give my friend my share of the money as well? No way! I never actually told her to get it! She just suddenly decided she wanted to buy one for her boyfriend. Yes, she had heard me go on about how great it was ME getting one, but I never told her to get one!!! I realise I said I convinced her it would work out better than getting it back home, but I convinced her only in the sense that she heard me talking about it in a ‘convincing myself’ way, and she happened to see me buy it and then decide herself to buy it. I couldn’t give her my share of the money. Even I am not that kind.
