Direct TV DVRs-If I have my own Tivo/DVR device, am I allowed to hook it up to the DTV system without paying any additional amount.

I pay a fee to DTV for receiving signal for that tv.

Yes. You only have to pay DTV for DVR service if you get the DVR service from them. If you have a separate DVR service you don’t have to pay DTV for it.
