I think it is happening, just not as fast as everyone says. I think my generation is ignorant to the facts given to them, and now we will pay the consequences. At this point, I believe we’ve done a lot of damage, and now is the time to turn that around.

We know that the world is heating up.. thermometers don’t lie! The real issue is whether we are causing it and at the end of the day who really cares. We all know that fossil fuels are a finite resource..they will run out one day. We have lots of time before they do run out, but they will. Some believe that we have reached peak oil - therefore every barrel of oil will be harder and harder to extract from the earth and therefore prices will spiral. Therefore, we need to move to a low carbon economy, whether the use of fossil fuels is causing the problem of global warming or not. Personally, I believe we are responsible for global warming and there are many things people take as ’scientific fact’ which are less certain than climate change, however as this problem involves such a dramatic change in lifestyle people question it. But basically, we need to move to using less carbon in our energy production firstly because of climate change, if you don’t believe in that then because of peak oil and finally if you don’t believe in either of those simply because it makes sense… renewables are free, clean and sustainable! If we can efficiently use renewable energy we could save huge amounts of money and also help more immediate environmental problems such as air pollution!!

Global warming is here to stay if we don’t amend our way of doing things. The more we evolve, revolutionise and get smarter, the more we actually destroy what keeps us. It’s everyone’s responsibility to slow it down and try and reverse what’s happening. We are intelligent beings and we know what we are doing. We should just stop being so naive…
