Hurricane Gustav - Evacuating - May be gone awhile
Just wanted to let everyone know that I maybe gone awhile.
Hurricane Gustav is going to hit Louisiana and they have told us to evacuate because it will be very bad. Some are saying worst than Hurricane Katrina which by the way happened 3 years ago Friday August 29th (tell me that is not a strange concidence). Me, the 2 dogs and 2 of my roommates have evacuated to Biloxi. We are in a higher point and should be safe but of course as I have learned no one can be sure of safety when mother nature is in control.
As it looks now i will lose everything again as I did in Katrina. I can’t believe I am doing this again but trying not to focus on that. One problem at a time. Survive 1st rebuild my life later.
We are starting to get a few outer bands now so I am not sure how much longer I will have the web so I just wanted to let everyone know why I may not be around here for awhile.
I will talk to you as soon as I can.

Every region has their devasting effects from Mother nature. Whether I stay or not is going to depend if anythign will be left.
Well…that’s also a catastrophic way of seeing things…although it’s understandable, because of the things you’ve through, but might want to change it, and try to see the bright side of things too…
I just heard about that on the news about an hour ago (it’s early morning Monday here) Please keep yourselves safe, no matter the cost. Your lives are more important than material possessions.
You take care of yourself, you hear? We’ll see you soon. (((HUGS)))
Take great care hon, I cant believe this is happnening again after the rebuilding, its a nightmare, hopefully the government will have learned a lesson by Katrina and help will come asap this time, my thoughts are with you all xx
The response should be quicker from volunteer groups if not from the government. I got a email today from a church putting a relief team together for later this week. I won’t be able to go myself but will send camping gear with them if they need it. Stay safe NOLA.
hoping that things go well for you.. and that this is not nearly as bad as katrina.. its a shame that the same places keep getting hit over and over… actually its a shame that these things even exist..
wishing you lots of safety and a home to return to when you get back… shie.
Look I know N.O. was devastated for Hurricane Katrina, I live in Golden Meadow, La about an hour south of N.O. after Hurrican Katrina I spent 3 months helping run a shelter for displaced evacuees from N.O. and ppl in our own area! I heard many heart-wrenching stories about how they had to shoot wholes through there roof os swim 13 miles to there home b/c they were left behind and seperated from there loved ones! So I don’t know how hard it must be but I can def. imagine! However for Gustav the weather channels and local news really pissed us off because all they wanted to cover was N.O. not once did they cover Terrebonne Parish or Lafourche Parish which were the ones directly hit! Hardly anyone stayed and everyone gone are watching news of new Orleans and thinking the whole time we were going home to nothing! Yea we all felt bad and sympathetic towards New Orleans b/c we knew that there was an area that could have been devastated but it wasn’t! No one even came down b/c its like wedon’teven exist down here!! Jindal didcome for a meeting with our Mayor b/c we were not getting any aid from anyone!!! So I’m truely sorry for anyone who has lost someone or something from these hurricanes and I am also sorry if I may have offended anyone but I feel Terrebonne/Lafourceh parish need to be heard and noticed!
