Ello Loves,
Could you please tell me how you feel about housewives, homemakers, and things like that? I feel as though in todays feminist-propelled society that these more “traditional” roles are being looked down upon, but i’d really like to play up the traditions.
Take care of the children
Clean the house
Make dinner
Be there for my husband
But i feel like my parents want me to do something more, like a lawyer or a doctor, and my school is fighting tooth and nail to let the “home economics” department survive, to put people in those classes.
Is it so wrong to want to play mummy like in the old days?
Tell me what you think :D

Oh wow…I really wish I could continue to be a stay at home mom. I loved it for 8 years. Felt like it was where I belonged. Never got bored of the housework and taking the kids to the park and on wagon rides. Now that I’m not…I am so jealous to see the mommies taking kids on wagon rides and “being there” for school stuff; soccer games; extra needs….
yeah, like, im not old enough to try to fulfill that role yet, but it just feels like i belong there.
Ello, I love that word lol.
Anyways, I think if thats what you really want to do, then go for it. Your parents can’t really STOP you from being a stay at home mom. They may be able to be against it and try to talk you out of it, but I think you should definately try it. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be a home mom. That way you can spend time with your kids, relax, take care of your husband when he gets home.
lol, i havent even told them that i wanna be a mommy when im older >. ive suggested it and they get mad…
poo-poo to them, i’ll do what i want with my life anyway…
and i like to clean, lol and i love babies, even the crying, screaming kind, and the ones that talk non-stop
:]
Why do they get mad?
How old are you? If you are comfortable saying?
I would have one suggestion for you, just as an “older mother” myself…I think that you should go ahead and get a college education and/or training in some field and/or work experience b/c you never know when you will need it to fall back on….
But after that is finished, go ahead and be a stay at home mom, it’s glorious.
Oh, and if you’ve never had a baby…think about this: the crying, screaming kind… they can be 24/7 sometimes and I am NOT kidding. No matter how much you love them, it’s hard to deal with. (example: colic)

LOL
I dont know, they wanna see me succeed and all that other stuff, which is fine, but i dont want to “succeed” in the eyes of the rest of the world, i want to succeed in mine, which would be by having a job that i loved. I told my parents, trying to find some sort of middle ground, where i could work, and be around kids, i told them “elementary/kindergarten teacher?”
They flipped.
And I’m 16, a Junior in high school.
And yeah, i mean, im not going to graduate high school, go out get married and start my career as a homemaker. I’m thinking about… oh jeez, i dont even know what i want to do, but i think id want to be a teacher… im not sure though.
And yeah, like i said, i had to fight tooth and nail to get into my home economics class, and they provide us with “real babies” or like little robot babies that the teachers can program to scream and kick and whine and things like that, i had to take it home for a week, and it was, admittedly, tiring, and that was just for one week. But i still loved it like it was my own, even while it was screaming and i was crying because i didnt know how to make it happy… but i got a 97 as a project grade, the highest in the class.
Other people dropped their babies trying to get them to shut up O.O

Why did they flip when you said that you wanted to be a kindergarten teacher?

I dont know, my parents are weird like that. Its a college education, its got good benefits, and they’re like “You wont make enough money!”
…i dont care about money… job satisfaction, man… lol

I tend to do that a lot with kids at my school… Haha don’t know why thought. It’s like random talk, they run up to me to hug me and im like “I love your shoes!”

what do your parents do that is so much “more special?”
Joy: are you a teacher?
dad is a salesman for a pest control company (no benefits, health risks, but “good money”)
mom is a shipping and receiving specialist for target (no benefits but “good money”)
Aww, they just want a better life for you….not realizing that “better” may mean fulfilling/happy/contented/etc.
Plus, if you DO have kids, they will love their grandkids so much that they will love to see you at home, taking good care.
My mom did not want me to resign when I had my first. But I did; and she got over it b/c kids get better care when mommies are at home…or daddies, I suppose, but daddies often don’t think of the details.
Incidentally, I am now in graduate school to get my master’s degree in elementary education. I feel as if I “have” to go back to work…but to combat that “evil” feeling: being an elem teacher is one of the best career choices for a mom who wants to spend time with her own kids…have weekends/summers/holidays/evenings off with your kids.
Depends on your state/district as to how well teachers are paid…also, in my state, they have great retirement benefits…better than most retirement benefits.
Undoubtedly, you would make more as a teacher…hour per hour….than your parents make. You work less than 200 days a year….so that amounts to “more per hour….”
Marry a guy with money, that’s what makes it work well.
But an education is very important too not just for jobs but so you can know things and be at home in the world and in life.
