The little sites seem to get shoved to the back. I would like a different search engine that would bring up the little guys first. I understand this may be a non reality:)
The software sniffers and buzz words (or keywords) are part of the solution:)
Nothing gives us clear references or validates arguement.
The thing is, I could go on two different health websites and I could find most things to be contradictory.
In my uni work now, even though internet research is ‘easiest’ you will find that it can just get you into more trouble because you can’t validate your claim with just a webpage because *someone* has physically written it, and it is therefore bias.
You may want a *bias* opinion if it is from a doctor or someone you know to have a reliable status, but still how can you see this isn’t made up in itself?
There is a lack of consistancy with online textual information. I don’t know what can be done about it, all I know is I wont be relying on something just because its on the internet.

thanks for your welcome to the site BD. Still getting used to it. I imagine it changes a lot. I will vote on your poll. I reckon most info on the internet (that I research at least) is true..

True or not..I worry our access is changing or being limited to advertising links or sponsors ads. Sorry if that’s off topic:)
pay per click is about putting your site where it will be seen better (I learned this at an internet seminar I recently attended).
pharmaceutical companies are in business to make money in the ’sickness’ industry (shame it isn’t the ‘wellness’ industry.)
My personal views creeping in here, and off-topic.
Why I voted “No”…. I cross-check a lot of things I research, and don;t necessarily follow ‘blindly’ what I read.
is this helpful, or you want more..?

this sure is an interesting discussion - sadly, I’m gonna have to leave it (bedtime here)
…however…
I suspect that Google provides the ’service’ of having a place to go for info. Given the amount of info on the www, it would be practically impossible for one organisation to verify….
with that in mind, I think that www users, need to be discerning about what they choose to believe, and what they take as ‘gospel’
shall read further comments when next I log in - thanks for the chat… (and the music on u-tube on your profile)
regards
Michelle
for the most part i believe the BOGUSa part is less than half. ifyou want true verifiable results, you just have to know where and how to look.
if you can’t do that, then stick to the phonebook and libraries ;)

Max, is there anything you know enough about to be able to tell whether a website about that topic is bogus or not? Perhaps hunting? Fishing? Arts? Crafts? (I just looked at your profile ;)
I believe half of what I read after I research the topic. lol..if it’s a vote you want, then I have to sustain:) I find the questions too slanted for a defined answer. I enjoy good info and bogus info isn’t as much of an issue to me as the harmful, tracking or soliciting info has been.
P.S. My topic’s hunting, fishing etc. may have a different clientele. I understand that anything that may have a monetary value for it’s service usually leads to a bogus end if you don’t pay or a bogus beginning to encourage you to pay. Free is becoming bogus:) Plus I think you are pointing to whether google has a responsibility maybe? I enjoy your posts BD. Take care:)
ha ha, you mean ‘abstain’ not ’sustain’ :]
i believe from a Mouse its becoming an Elephant .”Exaggeration” is what its called….

He he…lol. Thank you.
The world leaders would prefer we didn’t have the Internet and bogus info isn’t a problem for me, because I use it to communicate.
