Okay, this sounds really lame, but it is true and i wanna know why it happens…

DONT READ THIS IF YOU GET GROSSED OUT EASILY!!!

Whenever I go to the bathroom…like when I poop, I cannot help but cry. Tears just start falling down my cheeks. Do you know why that happens? It is really embarrasing because people always wonder why I am so sad, but I’m not sad, I just went to the bathroom! I am not kidding you, this is a very frusterating thing in my life. Please help lol!

That’s unusual, I haven’t heard of this happening before. Your best bet is to consult a doctor - do you have any outstanding medical conditions?

That’s odd, I’d reccomend a doctor for sure, unusual issues that are not able to be solved by them usually aren’t left unresolved - you’d probably get a referral to another doctor, but it’s worth a try…?

Do you ever recall having a particular bad experince while you were in a bathroom? I’m guessing it probably wan’t at home. Either at a camp or something similar?

Yes! When I was five years old we went to France. My whole extended family went and rented a barge. During lunch I got locked in the bathroom and had to break down the door because nobody could hear my yelling…do u think that is why?

The crying is a psychological reaction to being in a toilet setting. The incident you speak of could be exactly it. The only way to deal with it is to see a doctor. It’s not your fault. It’s what your mind has been wired to react to. Let me ask, does it make a difference if somebody goes into the bathroom with you? Do you still react the same way?

I used to have a fear of locking doors in public bathrooms because of getting locked in one, onetime..It is traumitizing. I just now started locking them again.
so it could be possible.

It’s a reaction to being in a small, tight space and the fear that you may not be able to escape. When you finally do leave the bathroom, the crying stops, correct?

The crying stops when the fear is gone. The fact you’re going to the bathroom at the time is of little consequence. My guess you would react the same way if someone locked you in a closet. Do you still sleep with a night light on?

The crying is a rational reaction to an irrational fear. You would be best served seeing a doctor. Did you wish to solve this without one?

If you think you can “reprogram” your mind not to react this way I can offer a couple of suggestions. First, have someone accompany you every time you go to the bathroom, especially when out in public. Ask this person to continually talk to you while you are taking care of business. A smooth calming voice will help eliviate the fear you have. Second, when in a more natural setting such as your home, take a piece of rope with you leaving one end of it outside the bathroom. This is your “lifeline”. A way for you to escape should something happen. Knowing that you have this rope with you should also calm your fears.
Good luck and i hope this helps. I will pray for you and your continuing battle with cancer. You are alright. not wierd at all. Not to me, anyhow.

you probably just have sensitive tear ducts and the exertion you use to go to the bathroom activates them for some reason. if you don’t feel sad or upset in any way, i don’t believe it would be a good idea for you to be trying to find imaginary trauma-induced reasons for this happening. don’t you think that if this was trauma-induced you would experience at least an accelerated heart rate?
