I’m, Well, I guess I am mad I am seeing someone.

I am in a VERY loving relationship… we are talking this is the man I plan to marry one day… but here is the thing; I can’t cut. I want to. The urge has come back very strongly… I did once recently and he saw. He, of course, was upset and we talk3e about it for quite a long while…
But I want to keep doing it so badly…
Should I talk to him about it… I just need some guidance.

if you love him and want to marry him, you should be able to give up cutting for him. If you can’t, it means you like it more than him

I have seen a psychiatrist but that was a long time ago. And I want to give up cutting, I had not done it for quite sometime… I just got the urge back.
But he was not there for the earlier part of my life when I was a cutter so the issue is bringing it up. It’s hard to get people that have not gone through it to understand the mindset of a cutter.

compare it to something he does to relieve stress. does he drink or smoke, thats self harm too, close enough. he may understand better than you think

He rarely drinks, and he quit smoking. Would the previous addiction to smoking still be a good thing to use?

If you plan to marry this guy, he is part of your life and will be part of it as long as you live. It is always recommended to be honest especially with what you are going through.

You said that you planned on marrying him. The relationship won’t be worth much if you can’t tell him such a big peice of your past. You CANNOT base you relationship on a lie if you want it to go somewhere like marriage and have the two of you live happily ever after. Start talking to him, you may be surprised at what he knows.

I was a cutter and my then boyfriend said it was him or the cutting. It was then I realized just how serious what i was doing really was to the people that surround me. We had an amazing talk and I told him I still have urges. He told me every single time I even think about it, call him and we can just talk to get my mind off it. I stopped cutting and am happily married to that same man. Cutting is not worth it. If this is the man you love put the effort forth and let him be your crutch for a little bit. Good Luck, it is a slow journey but a very fulfilling one in the end. I have walked your shoes and understand. =)
