marriage help: I just got engaged. - Help.com

I just got engaged.

Should I wait until after I graduate from college to get married?
My parents and his parents think we should wait…I’m not completely convinced.

Because you’ll have college out of the way, you can focus on your new life together.

you should wait

1) gives you time to think it out
2) Your college friends will thank you later! 1) chance for reunion 2) they can buy you better gifts.

im not married so i cant give you the best advice but i think it prob would be a good idea to wait becuase from what ive seen planning a wedding is CRAZY and im in college and its pretty stressfull as it is so i cant imagine doing both at the same time…but if you cant wait then go for it….have you guys been together long enough that you could get married tomorrow and be fine?? or do you think it would be wise to live together for awhile and etc and make sure you guys will get your kinks out of the way first

I would take the advice of the people who love me most. They know you best and want you to have the greatest chance for happiness.

what does it matter? will getting married stop you from going to college? That’s the only thing you need to answer. College should always come first, and anything that will hinder that should not be done, especially if it can be done later.

Of course it also doesn’t help to make the people paying for college (if that is the case) and the wedding (if that is the case) up set with you. A little respect is worth it.
