I want to get toned.
So I’m currently 6′0 tall, 150 lbs. I just want to get toned a bit and maybe get somewhat of a sixpack, but I have no idea of how to achieve this. I don’t eat right (or at all really), and I don’t exercise at all either. Sooo, I need help, from the ground up. Any ideas for healthy recipes for food or any exercise plans will help. :)

Hey me too! Weird… I play waterpolo, try it!
Um..no sports. I’m not very athletic and I’m a senior in high school anyway, so chances are I’ll probably be cut. :(
……mmm…..er….. well i guess you can try to eat protiens, and fruits/veggies, and for fitness….. being tickled to exhaustion seems to be a good work out for the abdomen… lol… but i guess basic cardio work and weights should do it
1) Get a Gym Schedule and stick too it
2) Do Abs and push-ups everyday… it takes like 5 minutes
3) Eat a lot of calories and protein at the beginning to help build mass
I don’t know..I don’t want to get too muscular, I just want to get toned and slim down just a little. And I don’t know what kind of gym schedule to adopt..I need like, numerical figures to limit how much I do. Knowing me, I would exercise until I pass out.
Everyone says “eat healthy foods” but I’m more like “uh how much? and what kind?” I’m pretty lost when it comes to these things.
unfortunately every body is different so theres no exact amount that we can tell you. but they have recomended to me, hearty breakfast, and light lunches/dinners, with snacks of fruit and veggies when im hungry…. also for excerise they have recomended me to start with stretches, then start with 20sets of every excercise i can think of, and slowly brining up the amount every 2 weeks…. idk if this would work out for you….lol… or me for that matter because i never follow health advice, i listen but never follow thru… hope its not the same prob with you
Download the Canada food guide and stick to that for food, at least until you get a better plan. As for working out go to the gym at your school 5-6 times a week. 3-4 of those times you should do strength training. I recommend ball squats (no weights, or dumbells only), Bench press, shoulder press, lat pull downs, rows, and leg curls. Do the lower body exercises first. Find a weight you can do 15 reps per set, and do 2-3 sets of each. On days you strength train do 15-25 mins of aerobic cardio afterwards, and on the other days do 35-45 mins of cardio. Take a day off all of it each week. OK that is what I would do if I had way more motivation and shared your goals. If you want professional advice you should consult a personal trainer.
Is this person a male or female?
Anyone who say ‘i don’t want to get too muscly’ must be female! Or not… lol
So, I’m a female and have been doing weights for almost 3 years. I’ve stayed the same weight but have gone from a size 12 to 8. Muscle is denser than fat, meaning, muscle fills a smaller area than fat does. You MUST train with weights to tone up. You cannot get toned by doing cardio, eg: running, walking. I have lost 9kgs over the last 4 months from eating strict and doing weights. I have not done ONE bit of cardio.
To ‘achieve’ a six pack you need low body fat. Everyone has muscles but if you have a layer of fat over the top you can’t see them.
Definitely have a few sessions with a personal trainer!!
And remember!
NOTHING WORTHWHILE EVER COMES EASILY!! :)

If you exercise enough you don’t have to worry about how much to eat, just about what’s healthy and what’s not. And at 6′ and 150 you don’t need to lose weight.
amity seems to be the person to talk to, i think she should know how to get toned best, but if you want to lose some weight first, then yes do the cardio, then do the weights and muscle type stuffs…
lol sorry, seemed like a chicky question.
I know all this too cos I was training for a body building comp in Oct, had to pull out for medical reasons… :(
To tone you need heavy weights, lots of protein (and water to flush your kidneys) and plenty of rest (your muscles only rebuild and repair when your asleep, not when you’re training).
You need 6 small meals a day:
Protein in every meal.
GOOD carbs in 3-4 meals, not before bed as you can’t burn them off while you sleep.
Veg in 2 meals - lunch and dinner.
Good fats 2 times a day to keep you metabolism burning - ie peanut butter, flax oil.

I’ve done NO cardio in 4 months and lost 9kgs - half fat half fluid. Piled it on over Chrissy! lol The more muscle you have on your body the more calories you burn trying to retain it. You only need to do cardio for ‘cardiovascular’ things like strengthening lungs. The Biggest Looser and shart like that only do it so they can loose the weigh QUICK. They don’t do it healthily and when the show’s over most of them pile it back on if they don’t stick to the crazy training routines.
It has to be a life change too, there’s no quick fix.
People with great bodies train and eat right ALL the time.
It’s a lifestyle :)
Thank you..a lot. I’m too fatigued to read all this now, but when I wake up in the morning I’ll be sure to follow these instructions. :)
