depends hugely on the kind of person…
for me, personally, it’s not that big of a deal, thus i would say ‘no’

i guess i am just used to people saying hi/bye. it is not like we don’t know each other, i wouldn’t expect people to talk then, we are apparently friends and i always make an effort.

Yes without a doubt it is rude…If you have to share a space then you have to be nice.

For me and the people I live with, it depends on the time of day XD If it’s anytime during the morning, no greeting is expected. Inarticulate muttering suffices if anyone really feels obliged to acknowledge the others’ presences :P
Heheh… but yeah, as has been said, it really depends on what sort of relationship you have with each other, and what your own sense of “niceness” is.

That scenario sounds’ very disturbing - And greatly uncomfortable.
You must live in a communal block or a half way house. Still, to not be polite is rude.

That in itself is stupid. Why would you live with someone you didn’t like if you had any control over it?

But to answer that question, I would say yes. But that’s my opinion.

Yup. Me too. I speak to everyone, even though some people don’t speak back. I think that right there is rude. But it is def rude to not speak to your roommate.
