boyfriend help: I can’t motivate myself to do anything. - Help.com

This post left anonymously

I can’t motivate myself to do anything.

I can’t be bothered eating, I haven’t showered in 3 days, I’ve been skipping uni, and I don’t do anything besides watch DVDs all day. I just can’t seem to summon the energy, or the motivation, or something.
My boyfriend told me to talk to someone, but I can’t really be bothered doing that either. Even just writing this post seemed like too much to bother with. I don’t know.

I’m kind of the same at the moment, except i have to get up as i have a massive deadline so i have to make myself do work (although i spend the majority of the time procrastinating on the internet!). the rest of the time i just want to lie about and watch tv… can’t be bothered to go out, exercise, cook, make an effort with my appearance.

Have felt like this before though and have found that by forcing yourself to do stuff (like i made myself go for a run or cook nice healthy food) i felt better, and by being more active i then had more energy.

drink caffiene and sit on the toilet for a long time reading. That works sometimes.

Are you interested on your subjects you study or your parents told you and paid for your fees? Did you want to go to university or it was something you had to do? Maybe you have depression, you have to find out what’s behind your sourness. You can’t live your life giving up on it already. Your life seems to be easy, it is not you obviously who has to pay for your studies, otherwise you would feel much more motivated to get up and do what you have to do. Find out the cause of your problem and get out of it as soon as possible.
