Depressed…

.

i’m sure you’ve heard this story millions of times, but what are some good ways to get over depression, without medicine. From what I’ve read online I believe I have moderate-severe depression.

I don’t have much energy, sleep a lot, don’t enjoy socializing as much anymore, and I’m just disinterested in almost everything lately, my emotions are very limited as well…I just feel lifeless, almost. The only thing that keeps me going is playing guitar, and I just can’t find time to do it anymore, because I’m always tired, and have little to no energy. What are some natural things I can do to help this, or fix it?

If you don’t mind comedians, listen to Bill Hicks, Sam Kinisen, Richard Pryor.

Do something you like, but don’t just go and do it now, no you have to enjoy it also otherwise you would be just doing a random thing.

Low energy can be helped by eating fruit. Bananas give me energy and I feel better for it.

I like to be eclectic. My music taste varies from Slayer to the Pet Shop Boys.

Eat a good diet - stay away from processed foods/unnessesary additives (easier in some parts of the world than others,) excercise as much as convienient without knackering yourself & see your GP - they should be able to advise you on psychiatric treatment if nescessary. Don’t be put off by the label of depressed - it’s not a way to define your life just a categorisation to make it easier to seek appropriate help. Try and force yourself to get up in the morning and go to bed at night (even if you can’t sleep) your body clock will acclimitise after a while.
Take care.

renzo is right. I’m going to try to take his advice as well. I’m in the same boat right now. I’m on line looking for help. I once found a great web site about ****. Johns Wort. It is an herbal supplement that helps battle depression. Please don’t just go out an buy some. Do the research. There are certain things to look for with it and it can give recomendations on how much to take. It isn’t a quick fix but if you don’t want to take anti-depressants (like me) then it could be an option. I think you should see your doctor though. It could be a short term thing that your Doc can help you get through, But the diet and exercise advice is right on. Oh, and make time to play your music. Force it if you have to. If that brings you pleasure then do it.
