Love help: Does this happen to everyone? - Help.com

Does this happen to everyone?

I’ve been in love twice in my life. Both times the relationship has ended with seemingly no reason. I was good to both of these girls. I did everything in my power to show them I loved them.

In the end, it seems like a switch goes off and one day they no longer want to be together.

My most recent ex (of 1 year) says that I was good to her, and she’s still attracted to me, and she thinks I’m a good person. But she says we were “too different.”

Does this make any sense to anyone? Is it crazy for her to leave me if she feels these things? Or is that just how breakups go?

Hmm “Too Different” Idk, but I think difference is a good thing in a relationship.

No relationships ends for “no reason” It’s not like your skipping down the street with your gf and you go “Hey im gonna break up with you now” “Why?” “No reason”

Have you ever thought about asking what their reason was?

The way I look at things are, If you don’t ask, You don’t know.

well i guess her reasons are that she’s “not a relationship person.” even though she seemed very happy with me 98% of the time. And that she didnt like being “tied down.”

But what I mean is, she spent a year with me, and we grew close. and it seemed like she enjoyed the time we spent together. so how does it all of a sudden just turn off?

i guess i’m just looking for people who have felt this way.

Some ppl change over time. Sometimes the closer someone gets to you, the farther you get from them. Spending “To Much” time with someone can’t always be a good thing. As for not being a relationship person, I think that was just some careless excuse. Apparently none of these ppl are good for you, When the time comes you will find someone who is perfect for you and willing to spend the rest of their life with you, but until that day comes you’ll just have to be patient.

Patience plays a very important role in relationships, not saying that you aren’t patient. Just, it seems like obviously there’s something wrong if they “all” as you say break up with you for no reason. Have you ever actually thought about asking them if something was wrong with you?

To answer your question, Yes; That does happen to everyone. EVERYONE at least once in their life will think they found “love” but it goes wrong in the end. True love has its rough road. You can’t expect to just ride down a smooth path with no cracks. This is going to happen a lot in life.

Believe me I’ve asked if it was something I did or something I could have done better. And she reassures me that I was a great boyfriend to her. She does say that she didn’t like how I was fussy/picky. But I mean, it seems crazy to break up with someone over something like that. We all have (as does she) small character flaws.

It’s just that it all seems like some form of BS. “i’m not a relationship person” “we’re so different” “i felt tied down” All these things dont seem to make sense when I think of the time we spent together where we were always enjoying each other’s company.

Thanks, honestly, that’s all I need is to hear that this **** happens to other people too. I don’t think I’ll ever understand it, but if everyone goes through it, I guess I can too.

you’ll get over it, and it might happen again, but you’ll get over that too, i’m sure. You’re not alone in this though.

tell ya what: there has to be more than “seemingly no reason”, maybe you just didn’t get that, maybe there was another guy, or maybe she just got bored. girls are really complicated beings, I would advice you to not try to read too much into it.

Good Luck in your future relationships man
