Would love to hear more about what you think about Google using software as a method of collecting more information about its users! BD

The only private thing in the world is the fact people do not realise how much of their lives is actually on view for everyone to see.
I don’t really care who has my information or how they ge it as I know all my info has already been collected and stored somewhere, it is not mine and was never mine, I have nothingtohide so why should I care if someone wants to know what I do on the internet?

Using Google’s “Chrome” browser will allow them to track *all* of your navigation (today, they are primarily able to track only sites which carry their ads, like this one).
This is going too far — taking the stance that Adolf Hitler was a dictator (so why even *try* to resist?) is the *WRONG* approach (IMHO).
We are *FREE TO CHOOSE* — if you install Google’s “Chrome” Browser, then you are telling other people that you are willing to give all of your information to the media conglomerate that seems to be hungry for information (and “hegemony”) in a way that would certainly impress the Führer himself!
:O
As I said I am not bothered about who knows what or why, if all they are interested in is selling me ads or whatever then they have hit a brick wall with me becaue I really do not notice ads.
well whatever, I stated my opinion on what I thought/think about the question you asked in your post..
I don’t really see or care for anything else about it.

As long as its anonymously done i see no harm. The information can be used for marketing and whatsoever.
i enjoy firefox. And Google chrome is still working on a linux compatible version

So does that mean you would prefer to receive information from Google’s advertisers (than other sources)?I would rather have Google ads, then I think Google Chrome may indeed be a good tool for you — that way Google will be able to track everything you see, and they will be in a better position to pitch adverts when you are most likely to click on them (they have been doing this kind of research for many years — their primary focus is on getting you to click on the advertisements [because that is where they make money — and that is what the Google stockholders want] ;)
Mainstream media is too bias, censored and overall controlled by those with money. I prefer no ad’s its nice.

NBCOlympics.com would not allow the Silverlight player to show the events in full screen (even though it can) because it affected the “Chrome” around the player.
I downloaded Silverlight to look at Olympics video. Is it part of this data mining?
Personally I don’t care if they see what I’m doing on the web. So far, the browser is great. Its simple and blazing fast. It’s not a memory hog like Firefox.
And, when you download and install Chrome you can opt out of Google collecting information based on what you’re doing online. I have nothing to hide, so I don’t care if they want to collect information or not. I’m smart enough to not use the internet to either do things I shouldn’t be doing, or to transmit sensitive information.
Chances are your ISP collects all this information anyway, and they don’t even offer to let you opt out of that.
Anyway, I’d much rather see a world run by the fine people at Google than the people at Microsoft. (Though, Melinda Gates is amazing.)
No Mac version yet, so I haven’t tried it.

Nonetheless: I wish you the best of luck with your Google browser. (even though you view of the world may be skewed and/or limited :)
I understand what you’re saying, and my view of the world is just as skewed and/or limited as anyone else’s. However, what I’m saying is, given the option between a Windows world, and an open-source Google world… I choose Google.
Also, Windows gives me the option to either install their software and be spied on, or just don’t install it. Google gives me the option to opt-in to information collecting, or don’t — but I can still run the software. They aren’t taking advantage of anyone. You’re given the option to opt out twice, in fact.
Keeping their software open source means exactly what you were saying — there will be differences. Yes, this one company may “own” the information (to whatever extent “information” can be owned) — but it’s completely open.
