Yes i went through the same thing. Once it gets on your mind you can’t fall asleep at night and it is very annoying. For me it just went away with time. But i can say once it gets on your mind just try and sing a happy song in your head. That helped it go away.

So when you say you are thinking about death, is it that you are considering hurting yourself or just thinking about the concept? I was about your age when I first REALLY became aware that I would die some day, and it really weirded me out. I kept running over what it would be like to not be here and how people would react, even though I had no thoughts of hurting myself. It was just a scary concept, and it’s normal to fear it. Your friends have probably had the same thoughts - talk to them about it!

Not sure where the Goth comment came from! Do Goths think exclusively about death? Anyway, I guess I have felt like that from time to time. I think it’s part and parcel of life…ironically enough!

what i mean is, that i think about what happens after you die, and it clouds my mind before i go to sleep, stuff like, what happens, why, when, and like it just makes me feel awful because i dont like being like that

You are aware of or own death. I think that means that you know that you can’t live a out of control life. Perhaps it’s your way of telling yourself that every action has a consequence. If you get into a fight you could get hurt.

We all have a fear of death and that keeps us from doing something stupid; yours is just a little bit more pronounced.

What’s important to remember is that regardless of how much you think about death, there is nothing you can do alter the fact that you will die one day. If you fixate on it though you’ll waste your life dwelling on it.

Do try. It is just a thought. You are 15 and you do not have to worry about death for a very long time. If it comes into your mind, just dismiss it. It will stop nagging you when it realises that you are not listening.

I agree woth Dave. We all fixate on concepts from time to time, esp stuff we’re very unclear about. Since there is no concrete evidence available to satisfy ur curiosity, so its best not to dwell on it. There is obviously nothing wrong with it, its something a lot of people mull over… but its a futile thing. So monitor ur thoughts, and the moment u go on this road, conciously think of something more pleasant. Be on guard for a while, and it’ll go away..!

I had a hard time getting it to go away when I was your age. Do you know what brought it on? For me, it started when I watched a movie in which the main character (a young person) had cancer and died at the end. It seemed like death was all I could think about for several weeks afterwards! Ultimately, I got past it when school started and I got really busy again. The moderator’s ideas about exploring your spirituality are great! If you are already involved in religion, delve deeper, or just start exploring.

You’re not the only one that is concerned about death. I’m 36 and my mother died under two years ago and since then it comes into my head, when there is silence. I just worry about the things I can change.

New experiences can certainly bring this out. Does it make you feel better to know that it’s actually safer to travel by plane than it is by car? In fact, I just looked this up on the NTSB website, and the chances of dying in a plane crash are 20 LESS than riding the same amount of miles in a car!

I remember when I fly to Trinidad in 1987, I had this strange idea in my head that it would be super fast and I would be pulled from my chair. I thought It would be like a disaster movie and when it pulled away, nothing.

In the time it takes you to read this, a few others in the world have already taken their lives. You’re still alive, so you still have time to choose differently. Because suicide is very much a choice you have to make. It is not a choice that can be made for you. I am not here to talk you out of it. I am here to help you make a decision that you can live or die with in peace. It’s going to take about 5 minutes of your life, a life that you can’t see much point in continuing. But since you found your way here, another 5 minutes probably isn’t going to hurt anything.

In my few years online, I have met dozens if not tons of people who find themselves thinking the exact same thoughts you’re thinking — I can’t go on any longer. I just feel too overwhelmed by it all. Nobody loves me, and those who do are just saying it; they’re probably lying. I’ve gone on feeling so bad for so long, I just don’t feel like I can take it any more. I give up.

If you recognize yourself in some of those words, that’s good. That means that despite all of the bad feelings you’re feeling, you can identify some of those feelings that have been felt by others. Trust me, that won’t make anything I have to say easier. But it does give us a small reason to hope.

You are still alive. You are still reading. You are still you. One more light in a world of darkness. There is hope.

Find a reason to live, not a reason to die, life is short enough. :-) were you diagnosed with cancer tomorrow youd have not choice in the matter maybe, there are people out there fighting to live, why fight to die ??? x

Having thoughts about death , usually ends up with a trail of negative thoughts, it has to be stopped in its tracks, as Dave said people start to become fixated with it, there are things to live for, you just have to find them in your life. :-)

Exactly :-) And there have been many teen suicides in the past year, our ways of helping to stop it are individual methods.
