Where were you?

I don’t really know. I tell it how I see it and I try and put my thought as simple as I can. If I have changed them, they may have thanked me in the past but I don’t dwell on it enough to remember.
The thing is; for me, doing something good or helping someone isn’t something to be proud of. We all should be helping each other anyway.
Well, I’ve tried to help. I’m not really sure whether it has been successful or not, but I have tried and that’s the most important thing to me.

have you?
im only 19 so ive not had much time, but i seem to have a gift of cheering people up, i also pushed through the new community center in my area, im a member of the south Edinburgh youth forum and im going to become a session youth worker and youth football coach. i like to think ive helped in my own small way.
If you have done something for other without any ulterior motive, then that all you can do.
i don’t know.
i would like to think so
but i have been wrong before…

A drop of water is small but can produce many ripples over a large area.

well then, my tape covered friend, we will get along famously…
:)
That one person could go on the have a family to ten, etc.
If you want movies to cry to, go watch the lord of the ring trilogy.
Think of it this way. When a politician goes out to get support, he is in effect just one person but, by convincing others to help him/her, an army of helpers can get the message across and that is where a single act can make a difference.
well, then, even if i have few things in mind… i don’t see the point in sharing those… kinda feels like um.. well… ‘bragging’ sort to speak…
Not if you intentions are good. You might have some pearls of wisdom that no one else has thought of yet.
pearls of wisdom… hm…, ok, one time, i convince one of my people to rethink his decision to quit the job just because of stupid things…
well it just shows, don’t give up to your emotions, give time to calmly rethink important decisions…

I’ve tried. In the America’s consumer economy you’re not really valuable unless you have possessions, and a lot of people want consumables such as food or cigarettes. I can’t say that I blame them but I’m barely able to feed myself even with support (I don’t smoke.), and I don’t have a lot to spare for anyone else. I will share what I do have with those around me. The main way I try to help is I try to serve others in whatever task they require of me. At my apartment I’ve helped the apartment manager and other people in tasks. One time I planted flowers in the flower pots around the apartment and cared for them. Another time I helped a tenant configure his television to watch cable and I helped him configure a combo lock. Not much but I do what I can.
and its people like you who make the big difference in life, we arnt affected as much by politics as you’d think we are more affected by the little things people take time to do for us and that’s where you can make the difference you probably made a lot of people a bit more cheery with those plants and the person you helped out with the cable would no doubt have been very grateful. all the little things add up and thats what counts.
The funny thing and taking into account the situation America is in at the moment.
Two politicians are running to be president and they have convinced thousands of people to donate money to their funds. Do you think they did that for the possessions the person has, or his opinions and what he will do if given the chance.

i think wed be straying of topic with that one…its a good point tho you could make a post about it maybe?
If you have something to say that is worth saying, go out and tell people. It only take a couple of people to repeat it to their friends and that is how change starts.
I’ve had a stab at it. I’ve been told by several users that I have helped them during my time on the site, but when you consider the amount of time I’ve spent on the site in various guises and the thousands of replies I’ve left (literally) it probably isn’t enough.
Perhaps you need to look on the the hard work you have done in a more positive light? There are people who are at the end of their tether and if you save one person, that is worth more than the praise of a morally bankrupt world.
im kind of weird as in that im a very logical person but also very emotional and thinking about your post supa fly, you’ve no doubt made a positive difference in peoples life’s however becouse your no doubt a very caring and emooinal person you would become invested in the person you tried to help, and probably wish you could do more, but when you look at it logicaly there realy isnt mcuh else you can do and i you can make a positive impact on someones life that tiny spark of hope you helped create could help that person go on to achieve their dreams however with other people it will no doubt go the other way however you have mad e a good impact on the world simply by trying.

I’m sure I’ve done a lot of harm Dr McCool.
Perhaps yes, perhaps no…
We all try to help and not everything will benefit the person.
There are a lot of fantastic users on the site though.

Don’t do that man. It’s nice of you but I’m not sure what you’re basing that on.

There is a very good reason for that!
Your not the cool dude from Xena and Hercules by any chance?

oh poop yeh i can see that…. are you?… come on be honest..we wont say.
Not personally! But my avatar is a picture of Bruce Campbell, star of the ‘Evil Dead’ trilogy who has featured in ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ and ‘Hercules’ as the King of Thieves or something.
