life help: The installation pop-up won’t pop up on my Sims 2 Apartment Life game when I go to install. - Help.com

The installation pop-up won’t pop up on my Sims 2 Apartment Life game when I go to install.

I looked on my computer, and my harddrive doesn’t even recognize that there’s a disc in the drive.
It’s not the game, because we bought two different copies in two different locations,
but it’s not the computer, either, because it’s running other discs fine. Does anyone know any possible way to help ?

BTW; when i put the disc in and i close it, the tower starts making like a little noise like the disc is spinning but it’s hitting something. This doesn’t happen with any other discs.

Please help :(

Hmm sounds odd, do you know if the disk format is accept by the drive? (for example, is it a cd-rom trying to load up a DVD)

Usually there is another way to start the auto play feature with a disk but not sure what to do when it does not even recognise the disk..Sorry I cant be more help!

it’s not a dvd version of the game, if that’s what you mean.
and it lets me install all the other games of the sims 2.
it’s just very frusterating because i want to play this game pretty bad. :|

Ah. Well I did a quick read up online and there does not seem to be much suggestions I can find other then to clean the drive, check driver is up to date etc. Sorry but I need to run off to bed, I dont know what else to suggest anyway though. Goodluck with getting it to work!

Anonymous - I am having excactly the same problem, I have tried the disc in another computer and this one can start the game no problems so it is not the disc. I have contacted EA games via their tech support and await with baited breath their reply. If I get one I will post their reply on this forum

I had the same problem. Found out that it may be a Dual Layer Disk (EA’s words). My dvd player wouldn’t read it. I dug up an old Dual Layer DVD player and it worked. Maybe they’ll come up with another solution, or you may have to get a Dual Layer DVD player.

Well I have had an Update from EA Tech support and basically they stated that we should disable the start up programmes running in the background, for those who are not too techie then go to start button hit run, then type in msconfi and return, this brings up a box go to start up and then disable all, close and the computer restarts and then low and behold the bloomin game started, just like magic, must be a conflict with a programme, but I must say that this does become hit and miss some times it works and some times it will not recognise the disc so i have to go through it all again. Hope that this helps it did me!
