How about a sci-fi story that is about a world that is in game but the people in that world are unaware of that fact.

who about a story that has dragons that can fly in space and fight traditional space vehicles.
Make a short little story about a normal human who’s given not-so-normal powers, and abuses them.
But don’t make him evil. Make him strange, mysterious. Reveal more about him through what he does to people. Make him help some people and kill others- really work with the character.
I’m working on that kind of story myself.

had an idea awhile back about a world that was kinda like a store house and mixing pot for all our worlds history (even aliens and bigfoot n stuff) and a sort of police force that has to keep it all in line and keep them from slipping into our world and turning into monsters. it also explains where flying saucers n ghost come from.

yeah,even my nightmares hav given me good elements for books and characters that aren’t scary at all. weird how that works sometimes

One of the many wonders of dreams.
Find something you can relate to and run with it. Some theme or idea and concern. Just because someone has done a similar story to the one you may be thinking about, does not mean that you can’t do it better. I find the more personal you make it ( something that means something to you in any way shape or form) the better the result, the more passion is behind the work and the more you want it to be something great. I have an idea, but I am sorry .. it is something I work on every now and again, so can’t give it up ;) . Takes alot of effort, but just keep it up and it will unwrap itself, you seem to have the mind for it, just see where some ideas take you and pick one that gives you that gut feeling.

there’s this website called seventh sactum that has a bunch of story, character, and name generators that i’ve gotten a lot of cool ideas from too and some of them are actually stuff I can relate to even if most of it is pretty random
Think about the subject you want write about. Write that subject down on a piece of paper. Circle it. Draw four lines from the circle, then draw circles at the end of those lines. Concentrate on the word you wrote and circled. What does that word make you feel? What does it mean to you? What pictures flash through your mind? Whatever pops into your mind, start filling in the empty circles with those things, and so on… This is a kind of writing exercise specifically directed at getting through a block. I have used it before, and it has helped.
