It’s just not fair!

My sister is 21 years old. She has an eight month old daughter. Her and her boyfriend and the baby live in my mother’s basement. The girl does not work and refuses to work. Her boyfriend is a tattoo artist when he wants to be. They give my mother such a hard time paying rent. They even refuse to go apply for financial help. Instead of looking for a job, she sits on the computer playing video games. I on the other hand just had a baby who is still in NICU. I applied for financial assistance because my mother made me. I was so embarrassed doing it but it had to be done. I have now gone back to work even though my daughter is still in the hospital. I go to work in the morning, and then go see my daughter. I come home and have to clean the house. Now I have to try to rearrange my room to fit everything in it. My stuff and the baby’s. I have to give up the frame for my bed and sleep on the mattress on the floor because the frame is too big and I won’t be able to get the crib in the room. I know that I have to sacrifice for my daughter and trust me, I am ready and able to do it. I just don’t think it is fair that I am doing all this and not getting anywhere when my sister gets to sit on her butt and have everything handed to her on a silver platter. My mom even paid for the whole christening. I can’t even get my mom to buy anything for my baby. Not that I really want her to. I just think it is wrong that I work so hard for nothing and others do nothing and get everything!!! Thanks for letting me vent.

I’m guessing you’re younger than your sister…so maybe your mother is peeved about you having a child at such a young age (not that 21 is much better!) ? I’m going off what I’ve seen other mothers do: they think that if their child is going to be so irresponsible as to have a baby before they’re financially fit to do so, then they should have to deal with it themselves. I wanna reaffirm that I don’t think how she’s acting is fair…it’s unbelievably hypocritical and confusing.

Actually, I am older than my sister. I am 29 years old. I am actually the oldest in my family that has had a baby. Everyone else started at a very early age. My older sister was 16 when she had her first and once again, my mother gave her everything and is still giving her everything.
