Help…
I have an amazing job. With the same woman for ten years, she’s incredibly talented, etc. she does all of the design and I do EVERYTHING else. Basically I run the business, every aspect. After ten years, I really want to break free so I can design as well. I have learned so much for her and it makes sense to move forward. A few of my friends, including my xboyfriend know I want to design, etc. but they still come to me to make connections with my boss. when they look at me for ideas they ask me if I can ask my boss. This is so humiliating. I understand that she is a celebrity but they KNOW that I want the opportunity to show what I can do. Obviously I need to start something on my own but because my work is so diversified I am finding this so hard. I have been at home drawing ideas for jewelry collections, taking pictures….I just don’t know what to with myself. I feel so lost. I am over my position with this celebrity, it’s very hard work and very little creative outlet for me. I just want to be an artist and I feel like a fake…I know what i love to do and I know I can run a business, certainly my own, but I just cannot figure out how to get to the next step. I don’t feel strong in any particular field, I’ve been trained so broadly….i am in tears every week because i am so tired of being the ssistant.. I was once told by my landlord that I was an asisstant wishing I was an artist, cruel words but they resonate with me and make me feel even worse..he read me….my whole family are artists, a lot of my friends…they never put so much pressure on themselves to produce anything…whats wrong with me? What do I do? I need to move on from this position….however fabulous the status….
