Hemorrhoid protrusion.

Every now and then I get some blood in my stool, and sometimes I’ll get a protrusion of glands or whatever it is. They are sore and somewhat itchy. I’ve tried pushing it back in, but it feels really really wrong, so I can never manage to do it. Is this something I need to worry about? My understanding is that hemorrhoids are a pretty common problem, but nobody talks about them. I think I have the problem either because I sit around to much, or I squeeze too hard when using the bathroom. FYI, I am 23 and I’ve been having this problem for a few years.

I am really not sure, have you gotten the problem checked out by a doctor to confirm it?

No, but I’ve talked with a couple adults about it. The blood is bright red, so that means that it is near the surface and therefore less serious. Plus, I have had this problem on and off for years, so its probably not gonna kill me.

No health insurance, you see.

Have you seen a proctologist?
Normally, as you said hemorrhoids do not lead to further complications if there is no drastic tissue damage.
Do add more fiber and liquids into your diet to ease constipation as this will reduce the need to squeeze too hard. Try limiting your bowel movements as well about once or twice a day…
These are just suggestions to make things clear do speak to a certified medical practioner

A free clinic or similar should suffice if regular health care is not practical…

Yeah I am with ya on the no health insurance thing too, but that just doesn’t sound right.

I should add that advanced stages could lead to anemia and other conditions related to loss of blod as well as rectal infections…

I’d rather just deal with the problem than have an embarrassing examination. I think its just because I squeeze too hard. It’s kinda distressing, that’s all.

I just want to know what to do about the protrusion, because it can’t be healthy, having something on the outside that’s supposed to be inside. But I suppose there’s nothing I can do but wait it out and try to be as clean and delicate as possible, eh?

Im not sure about the medical ramifications, I would suggest talking over the phone to a medical help center or an online medical fourm…
