it’s my second week of 8th grade, any organization tips?

The rules on missing assignments are way stricter this year because we have a new principal, and i’m always paranoid that i left something at home, or i didn’t bring the right books to class. i have about 2 minutes in between classes, and it’s a big school. i’m not really majorly stressed yet, but does anyone have some tips to help me stay on top of things?

Three ring binders and dividers, by class.

That is retarded. My locker was on the 3rd floor and sometimes I barely got to class on time. You are students, not robots. They should give you way more time to collect your things.

Anyway, I’d suggest keeping an organizer (calendar) so you can write down the days assignments and be able to check back. This is actually something you’ll probably need to do for the rest of your life, so it’s not a bad habit to get into. I was terrible at this in school, but now I do it on my computer and I find that electronic keepers are way more effective for me to manage. Now I don’t forget nearly as much…as long as I remember to write it down.

Write on your hands, helps be remember, and your hands are always there, not showed into a backpack like little notes are.

color coded folders
blue for morning
purple for afternoon
or
binders
white binder for morning
black binder for afternoon

books
color coded book socks
either cloth
blue for morning matching the the folders
purple for afternoon matching the folders
or paper covers
brown paper for morning
white paper for afternoon

Also keeping the books and such in an area of your lock where u can reach them easy is a good thing too, before leaving place the mrnin books on top of everything so you know they go with you first then befoe the afternoon part of the day switch stacks and so on and so on

I always suggested carring the books you needed for the morning with you through the entire morning, it might be heavy and seem like a big burden but you wont forget anything and durring free time = quick study hall.

Geting an agenda will help a lot too with putting in homwork and important papers along with organizing tests and special events in the school. us9ng a book bag for takinh home school work is a good thing to have, make sure when u do ur homwork all books and such go back IMMEDIENTLY!

This is something the powers that be are doing in the school my children go to. Color coding by class. Many teachers require you to have more than one folder for each class - such as for journal work, notes, and homework. Use the same color folder for each subject; blue for English, red for math, yellow for language and so on. Also, get yourself two hard-cover or fold-over binders…keep all your morning folders in one, after lunch folders in the other. And even for the classes that don’t require it, keep a note-book - for reminding yourself of homework research suggestions, resources for websites, study tips from teachers. This one notebook keep with you every class. And I like the suggestion of the previous writer; keep what you need with you through the morning, then trade up in the afternoon. It may seem burdensome, but it’s less of a hassle than getting in trouble for being late for class! Good luck little sister, and above all stay dedicated to getting as much out of education as you can.
