My iTunes won’t open!

One day, I double-clicked on the iTunes logo on my desktop, but nothing happened! I tried putting in a CD and plugging in my iPod (it’s still plugged in, but it’s only been, like, five minutes) but nothing happened! Help!

Hey, guess what? It started to work! There was a power outage at my house last night and when the computer turned back on, iTunes was up! Thanks for your suggestion.

i had intermittent problems opening my i tunes on my macbook, then my hard drive failed, new hard drive all went ok till a few weeks ago when i accepted a software upgrade from apple the problem has returned. i try to open i tunes and the graphic equalizer comes on the display but the library doesnt show. my way around this is to leave an music file on my desktop and when i click on that it opens i tunes.

Mine does that. I have to restart the laptop to get it back up. Only doesnt come up if I close it first. Not fun.

i unplugged my hard drive by mistake and everything has been working like a dream since, i tunes loads perfectly and the laptop comes on much more quickly, i have used the mac janitor and clamshell which i saw recommended by people on the net and all seems fine at the moment, i accepted the i tunes upgrade with the new visualizer and the genius application and that seems grand as well.

try putting a music file on ypur desk top, drag it off a usb stick or whatever, then click on it, it should open i tunes for you,
if i tunes doesnt come on the screen but the logo appears at the top, click on window and click on itunes, if that doesnt work try putting in a music cd in the drive and that should open itunes, best of luck

have you tried putting a music file on your desktop and clicking on it?,,,,,, also try control click on the itunes icon in the dock then click on the open instruction inthe drop down menu. and remember if you click on the itunes icon and it doesnt open you can go to the top of the screen and click on window then click on the itunes instruction in the drop down menu. also you might try inserting a music cd, see how you get on with these.

im not well up on the reset procedures on the ipod touch but i believe it may be reset by operating the controls in a certain way, i suggest you get the proper advise on the mac forum, i have found it helpful in the past, and i cant see why you would have to reset your computer to deal with a problem on a separate device, best of luck

my iTunes has been working fine for 2 years-just a few days ago I put a CD I wanted to upload in my PC and nothing happened. I tried to open it and get the “iTunes has to close” error msg from Windows. Plug the iPod into the PC–nothing.
Have re-booted the computer many times. Will try some of these ideas-I’m not so hot with the computer, and it’s old and acts up anyway, so trying mightily to avoid un-installing and re-installing.
thanks!

My Itunes wouldn’t open one day (possibly after updating the software) and I too was frustrated for weeks, searching for solutions but couldn’t find any. Then I read something about the Bonjour service causing the problem, so I disabled it (or you can just uninstall it), and suddenly Itunes fired up.

Thinking back Bonjour was probably disabled previously then when I updated the software it probably re-activated.

HTH
