I Didn’t make soccer team.

I went out for the JV highschool soccer team and I didn’t make it. There were around 30-34 kids trying out for a spot of 21-22. Most of us were pretty much decent and had the same skills and so on. I didn’t make it, and I feel that I really should of. Lots of kids after said I should’ve made it over someone who did make it… I feel horrible. I feel so depressed, because the coach was such an *** and made tryouts for 1 week and half. Like 9 days. We did so much running and sprinting. I’m really fast..too.. help. I spent so much effort trying out. I had to walk to the tryouts too which was like a mile away cuz my mom works.

Well, it seems that you have two options: 1) give up, or 2) ask the coach if you can practice with the team. If you are running the same drills and practicing every day, then you will get better. If you get better, then you might make the team next year. If you are really lucky, the coach might see that you have something to offer, and get you some playing time this year.

If possible, try to find out what skills you need to improve on to better your chances. He might have too many midfielders, but not enough who can play striker or sweeper…

Get your parents to hook you up with a copy of “Training for Speed, Agility, and Quickness” by Lee Brown and Vance Ferrigno.

Don’t go to a soccer practice and then whine later about having to run a lot. Never go to a tryout thinking you should have made the team, if you’re not the fastest, meanest, most aggressive, hardcore buttkicker who steps onto the field.

If you’re not currently that guy, become him.

If I was a coach and I had to pick some kids for a team, I’d pick the ones with the look in their eye. Walking a whole mile to get to the track isn’t any significant effort to complain about. The kids that complained about walking an entire mile to get to the tryout, which takes almost 20 minutes if you’re slow, would certainly not be on the team.

Sorry, kid. If you want it more, you’ll do what it takes to get in the shape you need to be to get it.

I’m in the same situation dude. I’m pretty good but he had too many kids so he had to make some cuts. like 10 kids got cut, so we’re all getting together and starting an indoor futsal team. if you start playing your own organized soccer you’ll get better and maybe play next year.
