friends help: i need help socializing with the grade 9’s in my high school - Help.com

Here’s the deal.

I tell this to everyone, and it works.

Focus on schoolwork, NOTHING ELSE. Friends will fall into place. When people reach out to you, accept and talk with them, but don’t go overboard and come off as creepy.

Friends come naturally in high school.

hey. i also just started high school and kind of had the same problem as you. i only had like one or two friends. but, i made alot of new friends which is very hard for me bcause i am very shy. and ur right it is embarassing. it dosnt matter if u r the most popular person or the person with the most friends. just try to find some ppl that u feel comforatbale with and stick with them. and if you wanna make more than just a couple, then try and join some clubs, sports, stuff like that. and be nice and funny. that is how i made alot of my new frinds. trust me… u will make a butt load of new friends before this year is over. and just remember to be yourself and not worry what ppl say/think about you. and school isnt just about schoolwork. its about having fun. but the work is still important but you dont have to spend every second of ur life with it. just remember to be urself… hope i helped.

Grade 9 is the worst year in Highschool. Boys have been maturing since age 12, and all of a sudden become about 10 years old again. Girls have really moved in on the discovery of boys thing and decide that the social network is defined by coupling up, which the boys don’t even really consider, they just want to sit in the dirt and make mud pies. Just be nice, be natural, treat others how you want to be treated, and wait for the next year, or maybe a bit more, to be over; then everyone will miraculously become their age.

In highschool there are like groups
look at the lunch tables, you’ll see em. but i say do as gamerkc said, friends will fall into place, as you show your natural self in classes and such things will show that you have in common and when it comes to partner stuff, thats anther good way. just be yourself and people will come to you.
