Just Smile
brushstrokes of curves and immorality
a silent mask that veils for the beholders eye
the pain is not visible.. nor existent
there are no perceptible signs of cries
the brush works quickly.. it knows its work
the hand is but a meagre guide
its a portrait painted many times
among the sorrows of the tried
this one painted smile.. this happy look
is just one more to add
for the brush has painted many faces
and lost what counts it had
the flippant grin that spreads this light
is a ruse of concealment.. nothing more
for the times are heavy and the days are bleak
so forged this smile will store
behind the curtain, theres a breaking heart
of which the bearer knows all too well
so paint this smile and laugh away
and be the only one to tell
