In the past few months I’ve made a best friend (i’m a girl, he’s a guy).

Recently, I’ve totally fallen in LOVE with him! My boyfriend broke up w/ me a little after I started liking this guy, but they two of them are close friends. That kind of makes me nervous that I shouldn’t date my ex’s friend… but anyway. So we’ve hung out a lot lately. He knows I like someone, but I jokingly “refuse” to tell him. My ex, however, seems to see right through me, and has even asked me if I like my bff. Of course I totally changed the subject (I didn’t want to lie and say I don’t). Now I feel like my bff is flirting back with me a lot, and he told me that my ex told him to ask me out. I’m SO confused! I don’t think my bff knows I like him, but he might have a clue. Plus, with all this flirting and stuff, I dunno if he’s gonna ask me out or what!? And IS it flirting? How can I tell the difference between teasing for fun or actual flirting?

Just ask him out. He is probably afraid to ask you out because you’re his friend’s ex.

I think you should see how your ex feels too. If you ended on good terms and are still friends, it’s good not to take advantage of that and make sure he’s alright with this.

From what you’ve said, it’s obvious this other boy likes you. If he hasn’t asked you out yet, it’s not because he doesn’t want to. Either he’s nervous you’ll say no or that your ex will be upset.
