Ok this is a *different* situtation…

.

For some backround info, i’m in high school and play a sport in all three seasons. But I found out recently that someone close to me was told she was going to be on varsity/ j.v. before the season even started. She was a freshmen who had never been on the team before (she plays volleyball.). Another case that I learned about today was that a girl who only started playing soccer this season (so basically the start of August.) was told by a coach that she was going to be on varsity next year. Now you may be thinking, “so? who cares? its not a big deal..”
Well to me it is, considering the coaches ushally tell us that if we give it our all during practice that we have a shot at varisty. I personally worked my tail off to try to get a spot on the varsity roster, but i was put on J.v. (there are only varisty and j.v. at our school.) While there were other girls who did some work but only worked hard when the coaches were looking.. This news pretty much rocked me, and I had to start asking myself why I should even play sports. I’m rejected by some of my teammates and I’ll never make it past the junior varsity level… So my question to you is what I should do. I might keep playing but varsity is what has driven me to compete harder.. and if thats out of the question i might not want to play.. And (sadly) i’ve even considered telling the school annoymously that these guarentees of varsity spots are being made when there is supposedly open competition….. Does this thing happen normally at other high schools?

I see…
Why do you say you’ll never get past junior varsity level?

because to tell the truth i’m not as good as some of the girls but i’m alot better then others…. i believe my coaches just don’t like me because i’m bigger.. i guess they don’t see the fact that i’m just as fast as everyone else…

Soccer, Basketball, and fastpitch.. i’m prettyyyy sure i won’t make varsity for basketball and fastpitch because i’m not too good at those sports, but my main concern is if every coach for every sport moves whoever they want to varsity, regardless of others effert at practice and such… so i think if that is happening that its extraordinaryly unfair to all the people who put there heart and soul into there sport and get nothing in return just because the coach only wants certain people..
