Set up a meeting with a financial aid counselor at her school. There are a lot of grants and scholarships she may be elligible for, that you haven’t thought of. Direct Student Loans is good, I used them for a little bit, and if you start paying a little while you’re in school, just $20 a month, you cut the principle. The interest, or the mandatory payments, don’t start until six months after she leaves college.

Student Loans is the best way to build credit, and they very rarely turn people down. It is more based on income than credit, they WANT you to be able to borrow. Fill out a FAFSA and check out the Loan website at www.dlssonline.com, to see if you qualify. You can request a phone meeting, the majority of universities understand that not all students are within a traveling distance of there home. Or correspond through e-mail.

Why is your daughter going to an out-of-state school if you cannot afford college? It sounds like a trade school or community college would be a more financially prudent chose. She could get a two year degree at a community college and work and save up for a four year degree.

It is insane to go to an out-of-state college if you cannot afford it.

Only thing I can think of is to get a loan of some kind, I hope you can find a way through this situation.

yes but telling her that is like talking to a wall. One reason she picked this particular school is because its geared toward the enviromental studies.. which she got interedted in after I allowed her to go to high school at a local zoo. anys thanks for everyones comments.:)

I second Susan’s answer. Out-of-state tuition is incredibly expensive. I did my first year out of state and it was 30k for the year, compared to the instate rate of 4k per year.

Many school have environmental studies programs, but even that aside, she’ll still have to take all the basics that any curriculum requires. That can be accomplished at a FAR cheaper rate at a 2 year college. Most 2 year’s have a University Transfer program that she could go through to get those basic classes out of the way, and the credits typically will transfer fairly seamlessly into a 4 year school.

Take up a part time job. You can apply for freelance writing, bookkeeping, software, transcription, online tuition or customer service work at home jobs. These companies do not require any fee and pay well . List of companies(with websites) offering genuine work at home jobs is available at http://www.pcworkathome.net . Many of these companies have been in business for several years

Hello Posters,
This is her daughter. To all the people who say I should go to another school, I don’t think that that is very good advice and not what she was asking. But just so you know… at my school I DONT need to take generals which allows me to learn more and use more complicated instruments which is NOT something you can do at other schools as an undergrad, and it is taught in a way that I am both used to and I do best with. If you are going to give information on way that we could make it work easier that is awesome and I thank you.

P.S. Talking to me is not like talking to a wall :)
