You do not have to submit to a search unless he has reason to believe that you have something on you, such as if he sees a weapon or drugs or something peeking out of your pocket. Your civil rights are the same as always.

If you are a minor I would have my parents present. It has always seemed to me
that students have less rights when in school. On the street you are only
subject to the laws of the land. In school you are subject to both the laws of
the land and the “law of the school”. For example if you get in a fight out
of school and not on the schools watch, your only subject to possibly dealing
with the police. Get in a fight in school or on the way home from school and
you may find yourself dealing with both the police and the school authorities.
Schools can have some really repressive rules sometimes when it comes to students
rights. For example, a cousin of mine once had a history report of his censored.
The school’s standing is that you do not own the schoolwork that you produce, they
do. Which makes me ask, just who’s education is it?
If your parents support you they’ll be your biggest asset.

You can refuse any search unless the police officer undertakes a search of your person based on “probable cause.” Examples of PC would include seeing the butt of a gun or the handle of a knife sticking out of your pocket, or having a RELIABLE witness report that he saw you stash a weapon on your body. MERE SUSPICION is NOT probable cause. Specifically, why does the police officer want to talk to you?
