I am voting McCain because he is the real voice of change and has the record to prove it, it isn’t a slogan, it is what he has tried to do throughout his career.

Saying something over and over again doesn’t make it true.

I can I agree with somebody on a majority of things, BUT that doesn’t mean I am going to run my house the same way they do.

McCain is a very far different man than Bush, McCain is actually honest and honorable and has proven time and time again that he doesn’t follow the pack.

Obama. He’s the change we need. But really this is just going to turn into all the other posts about politics. JUST AN OPINION.

He has a good running mate, Joe Biden, and together that have lots of potential to help this country get back to where it should be.

:)

Anon, you asked who people are voting for and why to help you make your decision.

Here is the thing, you are going to get opinions from both sides, but the best way to make your decision is to look at both candidates records and where they stand on issues that you believe in.

the issues we face,,,or do you want a fellow who has dedicated his life to serving
the american people…you have to decide ,but i’ve said for quite a awhile i’m surrounded by idiots,,,no offense,,unless you really are voting on emotion and not

It’s very true. I think both candidates have a lot to offer while at the same time, have their down sides. And once you can explore all that and educate yourself on what issues they are big on, you can say “Hey, Candidate A is right for me!”

You asked and you shall recieve. I must say at the outset that if i could reincarnate Ronald Reagan thar would be my choice.. Not withstanding, I firmly beleive in SMALLER government with less pork. We need to reduce the impact of government on our lives, not increase it. For this reason I support the Republican Ticket. So far as the PERSON in the Whitehouse. One thing recently occured that shows me Obama would be a detrement to our nation. …. His unthinking comment about Lipstick on a Pig. I fully relise he had no intent toward the opposing ticket but you see the stir it has caused. What if he were the president, and made a remark that upset the leader of Cuba, Iran,or China and they took it personally and decided to attack one of our ships or bases in their region. BINGO a major international incident possibly even leading to war. Every political leader needs to consider what it is he says and be very careful to offend noone if at all possible.

Why is it that people in the U.S. want more choices when in line for fast food,
than they want in the voting booth? When the Democrats screw up they lean
Republican. When the Republicans screw up they lean Democrat. Both parties are
full of crap when they talk of change. Wake up people! If you really wanted
change you’d stop trying to decide who’s the lesser of two evils. That’s what
we’ve been doing for over a century… What the f**k do we know about change?
If you really want change then stop voting for “Republicrats”. After all, we
actually have more than 2 choices, people need to just start opening their eyes.

I made mention of the lipstick comment on another post and I have to say that I do somewhat agree with your assessment. In context or out of context it was a huge mistake and he compounded it, especially when he got the laugh from the crowd and then in his rebutle when the McCain camp issued their statement and put up the ad.

The mistake for one in the rebutle was that he spent to much time on the subject major mistake and makes him look weak, then instead of admitting that it was a mistake on his part which is a usual problem for him and really it was due to the timing of the comment, Palin now has a trademark on lipstick in peoples minds, he turned it into an attack on McCain, which made the story even bigger. By saying that the McCain camps outrage was obviously phoney, he didn’t make McCain look bad, he hurt his own campaign, because the fact is that his lipstick comments, his physical movements (putting hand over his eyes) and the crowds reaction are open to interpretation many think that it was a purposeful comment (that the Obama camp thought they could get away with because McCain had used it before Palin) and they will help undecided voters to make their decision and also turn some of his own voters against him. People do not forget such things and it will haunt him through the rest of the election. Now after 2+ days of lipstick coverage, I hope the talk of it dies down, but it will remain in peoples thoughts.

Obama was not the one who created this “lipstick on a pig” phrase. John Mccain actually used it in the past when he was talking about Hillary Clinton’s health care plan.

Yes, Palin dose scare me more. If McCain and Palin get in I’m gonna seriously be
worried about the Supreme Court. The liberal judges are really up there in age.
If any of them happen to pass away then the President gets to chose the next judge
to fill their place. One more Alito or Roberts and you’ll wake up to a different
America. The Religious-Right has stated this to be their ultimate goal so that they
can try and have Roe vs. Wade overturned. “In God’s name” who knows what other
damage they would do. But still, regardless of this, I must still vote 3rd party
for president. I’m just so **** tired of having to choose the lesser of two evils
all the time. Maybe one day America will be tired of it to…
My vote must go with my conscience. Besides both camps have already sold out to
Lobbies anyway.

Emily Yes, and I mentioned that in my reply, BUT it was before Palin used the word lipstick and regardless Obama is going to be judged by some for using it. It’s out there, it was a mistake whether he did it intentionally or unintentionally.

Dani, I love ya, but I disagree, McCain doesn’t stand for everything that Bush stands for, that’s not true at all. They agree on somethings, but not all things and McCain has been very vocal when he disagrees with Bush. The main thing they disagree with is on spending….The Bush administration has went hogwild on spending and McCain wants to cut spending, which is what needs to happen.

I don’t get this fear that Roe V. Wade will be overturned, it’s protected by constitutional law. I personally think the issue should be turned over to legislation and shouldn’t have ever been a constitutional issue. The Supreme Court should never have been allowed to legislate from the bench and Roe V. Wade is an example of misused power.

The best example of misused power is the administration that has been running this
country for the past 8 years!

McCain gonna cut that spending on Iraq? I didn’t think so.
McCain belongs to the party that’s been in “power” for the past 8 years, how much
change can we really expect?
The Republicans should keep it real. The Democrats might tax and spend, but the
Republicans “borrow and spend”. That’s how the Republicans have pulled off this
Iraq occupation without angry Americans in the street. They borrow the $$$ spent
on Iraq, and don’t bring back back the draft. The next generation will be paying
for Iraq. I’m sure McCain will stick with the Republican Program.

The fear is very real when the politicians have to cower to American Religious
fundamentalists. Why else is it that politicians have to get grilled about
whether or not they’re a person of faith? I don’t know about you all, but I
like living in a secular country. A leader’s faith in the people & the nation that they make up is far more important than his faith in a god.
If the Religious-Right ever fully get their way this country will end up a theocratic democracy like Iran and Israel, where to get ahead you have to belong to the stated faith.

There are so many reasons that the Democrats are the lesser of the two evils as
far as I’m concerned!

Outskirts, that’s not completely true…. The Democrats have been in charge of the House and the Senate for the past two years, I won’t defend Bush because he isn’t defendable, but the Democrats are just as much to blame for this mess we are in. McCain is for cutting unneccessary spending and cutting programs that don’t work.

I haven’t heard or seen anything of Obama that gives me any confidance in him, just the opposite, I think that he will say or do anything to get elected and I do not think that he has the best interest of the Country at heart. He refuses to answer tough questions and repeatedly tries to avoid taking stands, he has done that throughout his brief career. He has also lied about his actual votes and other things, and shifted his positions when his position isn’t working for him politically.

Like him or not, you pretty much always know where McCain stands, because he stands up for what he believes even if it isn’t popular, he also has a LONG record of working with Democrats and Republicans. Has even said that if elected he would offer Obama a service position in his cabinet. When asked if Obama would offer McCain a position, Obama refused to answer the question, as he so often does. He always has to give the most politically correct answer, instead of just speaking his mind. That’s just to calculating for me and the last thing we need in the White House.
