alright im in 12th grade in a 10th grade class but i need help with this problem, its a long one but I really need your help.

Thanks in advance.

US Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps was paid 2.5 million dollars by speedo to endorse men’s swim trunks. Since Phelps is so popular, people are lining up at the doors of sporting goods stores all around the world to buy themselves a pair of Michael Phelps Speedos. But before you run out and get a pair, remember that while you can buy high-end Speedos(which range from $180 to $400), duplicating Phelps’ physique is a whole different story.

The Speedos hit the stores at 8:00 AM on Monday morning, Speedo estimates people will rush in to purchase the swim trunks and that Phelps Speedo swim trunks will sell at $66,500 per hour.

Assume Speedo stores are open from 8:00 AM until 9:00 PM each day.

After how many hours of sales will Speedo begin to profit after paying for Michael Phelps his endorsement money?

On what day and at what time will this occur?

include:

The linear equations of both lines (Michael Phelps endorsement and Speedo’s sales of Phelps swim trunks vs time).

round your answer to the nearest 5 minutes.

Hours:____ Day:_____ Time:______:_________AM or PM

thanks a lot whoever can help me with this.

well stores are open 13 hours a day
that’s $66,500 times 13 equals $864,500 a day

$2,500,000 divided by $864,500 equals 2.89 days, which is 2 days, 11 hours and 34 minutes…

that gets me Wednesday night at 7:35 PM. But don’t trust me on that. southern_comfort could easily be right but he/she didn’t write out the equations…

You need to divide 2,500,000 (the amount paid to Phelps) by 66,500. That will give you the number of hours of sales until the endorsement fee is recovered. Then count up that number from 8 a.m. You’ve got 13 hours of sales per day, so you can save time by dividing the number of hours by 13. Each of those is a full day. Then with the remainder, count up from 8 a.m. For your answer you will need to count forward from Monday, so the first set of 13 is all of Monday, second set all of Tuesday, etc.

I used the equation M=66500(T) where M=money, T=time
I also got Wednesday @ 7:35 P.M.
