Why are people the religion that they are?

I’ve never quite understood this! I’m not here to argue about whether or not god exists or anything, or if there is a divine being. I’d just really like to know why most people pick the abrahamic god (Jews, Muslims, Christians). I’m mean there are literally thousands of religions to choose from, each with its own unique and rich culture. Why should your geographical position have anything to do with it? I can’t really ask anyone about this as most people I know get touchy when I question their belief system. So basically to sum up, what made you choose your religion?:)

well, i was once discussing this matter with my mates, we were quite high btw, and at that time we were quite certain that it was pretty much decided by our parents and that there was absolutely no way for us, as a young and easy to manipulate minds, to become otherwise.
doesn’t seem to make much sense anymore after we became sober, but there you go anyways.

I chose my religion because it made the most sense for me Christianity(penecostal) I believe in it because of the prophecies that have been predicted and have became true and are still becoming true. That and one time I was dabbling in some new age religion book and some demons attacked me. I went to church and they cast them suckers back to where they came.

Sometimes I live places where nobody harrasses me about religion and other times I live places where I daily am innundated with it. The former is much better but the latter can be okay sometimes too, the richness of culture. As long as people don’t try to get me to discuss their supernatural prejudices in depth I’m ok.

Yeah I agree with you there, when you are young you are impressionable. But why not start to think about it when your older. do people just not address it? or do they and still decide to stick with their religion. i’m guessing it has to be one cause conversion rates are quite low.

I took me a long time to come to the determination that Christ was the true religion. I feel bad because I don’t want to shun other religions but the bible is very clear that there is only one true religion.

but so is every other religious document. its confusing. and they all have prophecies that came true. and they all have prophecies that didn’t. and abrahamic religion is only relatively new on the scene. i mean hinduism has been around for aaaages? where were the jews then?

There are quite a few more hindus than jews (but christianity and islam comprise 50% of worldwide religious affiliation)

When an event happens it happens in a specific manner. They way it happened is the true way it happened. If you change any of the details then the truth is no longer the truth. What I get most of the time is folks sayin I believe in all religions or there simply turned off by religion as a whole. Keep in mind that the devils main goal is to cause as many non believers as possible

The best lie is the one that no one finds out. not the one that contains the truth. if you went by that logic then the actual truth would be the best lie of all.

If people were actively seeking the truth and you were trying to prevent them from obtaining the truth then you would have to lie

Lying is not telling the truth so I can’t see how telling the truth would be the best lie. There polar opposites

what if the truth is not what you think it is… then, would there be such a thing as subjective truth?

Say I was going to hang out with my friends at a party and I didn’t want my mom to find out. But she didn’t want me out at a party. If I went to her and said I was hangin out with friends and we were going to the movies. The lie contains some truth. I am going to hang out with friends. ButI mixed the truth with a lie making it believable. And believe me I tricked her with that one more than once(in the past of course

If the truth is not what I think it is then yes, of course it would be a subjective truth. I’d be the only one believing my own version of it so it would be my own personal truth. That’s the problem with all the different denominations of christianity. I think Christ meant for us to use his life as an example and there are alot of distorted perspectives of the real truth

Nope…I was a little nappy headed boy who wanted to run around and impress girls and get a car with big speakers at one point in my life. When I recieved my first prophecy(we’re into the holy ghost big time in penecostal) That’s what made me look up from what I was doing. I went to this church for the first time. And the pastor of the church called me out by name. I didn’t understand it for the longest time and was scared to come up to the front. My mom made me at the time. She had wen twith me but it was her first time also. I went up thre and he told me stuff about myself that amazes me til this day. Real stuff that I was going through and stuff that was going to happen and has happened since then. I wanted to believe that all religions are possibly the same just in a different form but after looking into it further theres much more to it than that. That’s the easy way that wont do you any good I believe.

But aside from that looing into the other religions after I departed from my faith in christianity which is what ultimately led to me being attacked(mentally) by demons. And that is what really made me believe in the bible. Especially when I went back to that church and the same pastor that gave me my prophetic message is the pastor that sent those demons away from me

Good for you! you really have seemed to turn your life around! also i amn’t trying to pick holes in your belief system but in the interest of finding things out i have more questions!! my friend went to psychic with no christians ties who gave her an amazing insight into herself. you can also make people believe you know them my making general enough statements that could fit them and then narrowing it down as you talk to them and read their reactions. also i’m kinda worried about the demons cuz i no people who arent christian and who have turned their backs on it and they have never been attacked by demons. people could also give you their own personal experiences from any religion of your choice. how can you be so sure?

not everyone like the same candy, same for religion.
Different flavour for different folks. All leads to the same end.

the purpose of life is to gradually perfect ourselves from where we are now
to the level of a master like Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, Krishna, Hercules, etc.
we do this by reincarnating over and over again in groups.
We go through five steps:
1/ mastery over the physical plane.
2/mastery over the astral plane( emotional plane)
3/mastery over the mental plane.
4/the crucifixion
5/resurrection

Jesus demonstrated those 5 step 2000 years ago

spiritual?, i wouldn’t say that… especially during my younger days… but now at least i’m trying to do my best to follow all the ‘rules’ sort to speak, doing what was asked of me to do and not doing what was forbidden for me to do.
what about yourself?

Its amazing how much conflict comes between the abrahamic religions when they are all very similar. thats what i don’t understand? how can you decide which among the small differences is right. i mean they all have the basic message “Do to others as you would have them do to you”. its to late to get into the state of the world at the moment though! and i doubt we will ever fix it so no point whinging about it! i’m off to bed! good talking to all of ye! thanks for bothering to reply! and if i never talk to you again i hope you have good lives!!;) night night!

Not really. That’s what I was gettin at earlier. If you have a cup of water and you add som efood coloring to the cup then all the water in the cup will turn a different color eventually. The same applies to truth. Adding a small portion of lie will distort the whole truth. The differences in religion may seem small but if you look at the bigger picture these differences are astronomical
