More Cool Adventures of 2Greeneyes
Ancient Indian Ruins (Anastazi) from the year 1 to 1295 A.D.
I hiked for quite a ways and it is hot in southern Utah, but this trip was so worth it. I finally made it and got to the dwelling and petroglyph. I went into the guard tower and peeked through the same holes for warriors approaching. I went into the dwelling and checked for snakes and scorpians and layed down on the floor to get some shots. I also went into the chamber for their children. I left a piece of wood for their fire, in the fire pit. I left an ear of corn in respect. Hope you all enjoy the scenery too that they looked at from their home.

That was me. I’ve lived here for more than 15 years and I don’t think I’ve seen it snow in July… I thought it’d come before Halloween too. Woo! Haha. Actually, that kind of sucks, but oh well.

Am I just being rude…..HAIRY SLOT CANYON!!!!(^;^)
Yes Im afraid so Smoogie, Its called the slot canyon because its hidden between to rock walls 2 and 1/2 feet apart. That is where the Indians hid the women and children when enemy warriors were on the prowl.
Sorry…..slinks away sheepishly….(can’t help it sometimes) naughty, naughty smoogie..
Tis fine Smoogie,
Your just feeling, how does your kinsmen put it, oh yes cheeky!

amazing!
Those were incredible photos Greeneyes. That’s the kind of vacation I love, where you don’t just get to see things but DO things. You must be in terrific shape to do all that climbing.
uber cool!
That one petroglyph of the warrior with the shield and sword? He needs to pack that thing up before someone cuts it off!
On a less crass note.. how did it feel standing inside those chambers, knowing that families had lived there a thousand or more years ago?
I felt like I stepped into the twilight zone. I saw the same scenery and imagined looking out the peek holes. There is the one shot where it is called the guard tower. I wondered how that man felt scanning his surroundings and what he must of done to alert his family. I guess they kept children together in a room. I was on that ladder for awhile shining a flashlight for all the snakes and scopians that may have sought the shelter to keep cool. It was really surreal and I imagined their daily lives and the hike to water and back to saftey. Their fireplace to cook and for warmth was so homey. It was beautiful and they lived with the eagles. I felt very honored and tried to respect their home and left gifts to them.
greeneyes thats incredible! Id love to go to a place like that someday… just wow. YOu must feel really lucky!
I do and love it. Did you see slot canyon climb I posted to, unreal if not I’ll send. Incredible climb. it is where they hid the women and children. So scary and no ropes.!!
You have learned well my child. So shall you be called 2FeatherGreenEagleEye.
Actually that’s really cool. Last year I worked on a show that featured a Native American ruin similar to that, way up in the cliffs. Can’t remember what the ruins were called now.
This was the Anasazi tribe dated year 1 to 1295 A.D. Lol Sans 2FeatherGreenEagleEye!

That’s the same tribe, but it was a different set of ruins from what I can see in the pics.
It is so fun to play hide and seek there. My dog plays to but gives me away growling when they get to close. Were working on it! She is use to scaring off varmits and moose, so she growls always to let me know something is coming. Just recently she wags when they are getting close. Its getting better and we hide good.
Haha Sans re: 2FeatherGreenEagleEye!
Greeneyes I envy you your adventures as it’s a dream of mine to see the world some day and feel the vibe of those who passed before. It’s truly awe inspiring stuff. Until then I shall live vicariously through your sharing these experiences…thanks again :)
I so appreciate you all enjoying this. I love to share these experiences and wonder if I bore people with these adventures or do I show places that maybe some folks will never see. Landscapes and terrain that say someone from London or Scotland would find interesting. Bring a part of the world to another foreign place. I love to take pictures and its no fun to keep them to myself. I love to share and thanks to all of you its so worthwhile and more meaningful to pass to so many here. I love you guys and have made such wonderful friends here.

I have spent very little time in the western US. No, these posts don’t bore me at all. When you take a walk on the wild side, it’s the real wilderness.
I think the second rock formation looks like a sleeping kitten.
