How do I be a good homecoming date?

I really wanna ask this guy(we arent best friends but we are good friends). But hes never had a girlfriend, ive only had one boyfriend. We’ve never been on dates. I want to ask him, but im scared that ill be an awkward date, we wont talk much, we will suck at dancing, etc. How can i be a good date and make things not awkward??
