I’ve been struggling to get my disablilty claim approved…

I realize for some my wait has been short compared to theirs…but the frustration is endless. After hiring a lawyer I waited for something to happen, but the lawyer has no time constraints…was in no hurry…so I fired them. After months of calls to the SS office trying to get my claim reviewed they sent me a letter that was pointedly sarcastic in telling me to shut up, sit back, and wait for them to do something. Well…I’m just not that kind of person. I’m the squeaky wheel…so I wrote letters to every member of congress representing my state…and every representative from my area. Within a week I had heard from my local representative, letting me know he had written a letter to the SS office. Two days latter I got a letter from one of the senators from my state…she wanted to investigate and so sent a release form for me to sign so she could get my medical records. Two days later I heard from the other senator from my state and his letter just had two sentences. “Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention.” and “I have written a letter to the SS office of adjudication and review letting them know I have begun a congressional investigation”….WHOA MAMMA I couldn’t believe it.! Two days later the SS office called and asked if the following week would be good for a hearing date.!!!! At the hearing the judge approved my claim right there on the spot. NOw you know how to expidite your claim.

That’s good to know. I work with a lot of people trying to get ssi and they get denied three or four times over the course of years. Its almost like SSI doesn’t even look at the file until the hearing. Good luck at your hearing

holy cow… nice… i have actually been waiting… and here is the stupid part about it… right on their website.. it states that the EXACT TUMOR THAT I HAVE is automatically quantifiable.. the tumor is inoperable and yet.. here i sit waiting for a hearing..

i have called the dude who denied me.. (long story short, i had his number)… and while talking and screaming.. and reading the website like the bible… he got knocked down a few tones in his voice… i have an attorney and let me just say… im very lucky.. she is in tight with the judge.. and is going to be pushing my case in front of him to look at long before i get a hearing…

i believe that the reason behind us people who need this… have to wait is because there are a lot of people in the world who dont need it.. but are just lazy and dont want to work… in which in return makes us others have to suffer with waiting..

unfortuanately you are right, but I can’t believe there is not a way for the SS office to figure out the difference between the ones who really need it and the ones who are just lazy. Are they stupid??? I think they are arrogant and so full of themselves that they forget who puts up the money for their paycheck…the people who have been hurt and need their help. I worked hard all my life and when it came time to need their help it wasn’t there…sad…so sad. At least the Senators from my state were willing to step up for me.
