How early is to early?

The day after Halloween there was Christmas music playing in the stores, my town is filled with lights and the parks and malls are filled with Santa. What happen to Turkey time? I love fall and the colors, my house is decorated in fall stuff, I even have a turkey on my table. How early is to early to put your lights and tree out?
Why I’m asking, I bought a tree last night, it’s only three feet…very small for starts, I was wondering when people put there trees up and why? I thought I would just try to do the tree thing but I’m not sure when to put it up. It’s still in the box, I would hate to take my turkey down just for a silly tree….It’s not even Christmas! Should I be like everyone else and forget fall(my favorite time of year)? It’s bad enough I got talked into buying a tree by animal. I’m excited to decorate it but shall I wait for Christmas? How early do people start with the Santa thing as well?

I rememeber when it was considered tacky to put up any Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving. At this point, I do believe stores start hanging the Christmas decor as soon as Labor Day is over. Well, maybe not - but it sure seems that way.

My family always started the day after Thanksgiving. Years ago thats when the stores put out their Christmas stuff, now its as soon as Halloween ends. Seems things are always so rushed now days. My favorite time of year is fall also, I love the change of colors and crisp air. As far as your tree goes I say get started, its always for fun the first time.

This whole thing kinda makes me sick really but I’m willing to try for my kids. I remember Seeing Xmas stuff in April..It’s sick and I never wanted to be part of it. I keep getting urges to rip that box apart and put it up but my Zen ways keeps me calm…kind of:/

My tree has all those tacky lights on it all ready…cool huh?

Thats the kind of tree I want, the lights are always a big pain to sting. We had a live tree last year for the first time, couldnt figure out why our 8 year old son was so sick, by Christmas eve he was in the ER with an asthma attack, live tree was down as soon as we got home. You can always set the tree up and not put the Christmas decorations on it, let the kids make some fall decorations for it. I say this thinking you have all sorts of free time and dont find it tacky. Some folks are very prim and proper with decorations, me my tree is covered with all sorts of odds and ends the kids have made through the years. I have one special angel my little girl who passed made and it is always the first and last thing to be taken down.

I am sure your tree will look great. Nothing wrong with prim and proper. Those are the trees you take pictures of.

My family and I have always gone out the day after Thanksgiving to get our tree and put it up. We usually don’t decorate it or anything until the Saturday after because my dad has some special water concoction that he lets it soak in for a day.

We usually start putting our decorations for everywhere else up that weekend as well, although I can’t remember when we do our outside lights.

But yeah, I was listening to the radio recently (I’m a college student, so I’m not really driving around all the time), and there’s one station that during the Christmas holiday plays nothing but Christmas music. They were already playing it all day long as of LAST SATURDAY! Wayyyyy too early for me!!

Ok, I did something so gross today, I took my kids to see Santa. I about died, how stupid and I wanted to gag. Corny, I’m thankful my kids agree that Santa is silly because they both said they don’t want to do it next year.
